I think the whole gun debate is a bit too complicated to be discussed via one liners in between bad beat posts.

Some people in the states are offended by the fact that in Europe we "dont get" the gun culture.
We look at the lifestyle in the USA and see that its pretty similar to our own (i.e. a western culture and economy) and simply cant work out why so many people are so pro-gun.

The problem is that its a catch 22 situation. I dont need a gun because no one else here has a gun (not since we de-commissioned in Ireland), but a freind of mine in the USA keeps a handgun under her pillow - and thinks that its odd that I dont do the same.

The culture in the USA is quite different to that here - the difference is the bad guys over here are not armed (at least the guys who break in to homes etc. are not)
