RedBean owned this thread so hard. DrewDevil solidified himself as quite possibly the least logical person in the world.

Here is for everyone who can't wait for Alex to untaint the record:
He weighs at least 30 pounds more now then when he was a rookie. He is an [censored] as evidenced by the fact that he was voted one of the worst teammates in the league in a recent player poll. His head looks bigger now then it used to. At age 31 he hit a HR ever 16 ab. At 32 he is doing it every 11.5ab. (LOL offseason testing is weak) He has played in HR friendly stadiums his whole career. He cheats on his wife. He has 0 postseason clutch skills. Cheater, [censored], worthless when it counts, adulterer, small park abuser, record is going to be tainted for good. Ha! |

[ QUOTE ] Tub I think their point is that Barry Bonds with or without steroids was one of the top 3 players of all time. Players play in the environment that is presented to them. Babe Ruth did not play against African Americans, Aaron played with Leaded coffee, Bonds played during a time when most players were on steroids. The guy is a jerk, that much is clear, but to discount his achievements because of that is wrong. Ty Cobb and other early players were much worse people than Barry Bonds is, and they are mostly remembered as great players. Barry is the greatest player of his generation easily and people will remember that he was a jerk, but eventually the steroid thing will be forgotten once the evidence clearly shows how pervasive they were. [/ QUOTE ] Oh yeah, I agree with all of this, or am certainly not knowledgeable about the subject to argue otherwise, let's put it that way. I'm trying to stay out of the steroid debate thing b/c it's exhausting, but was rather baffled at certain non-RedBean, non-Giant fans who have taken to championing his cause. Very Skip Bayless of them IMO. [/ QUOTE ] Fair enough. I think they enjoy trolling some of the terrible posters as well. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] They just make the ball go farther and faster when you connect. [/ QUOTE ] Source? [/ QUOTE ] HAHAHAHAHA You really want to debate whether or not steroids actually work for home run hitters? Here's another statement I'll make: The world is round. Do you require a source for that one, too? HAHAHAHAHA [/ QUOTE ] I'm pretty sure the most legitimate for steroids being a performance enhancer is recovery time. BTW I'm tired of this thread this is my last post in it. |

[ QUOTE ] Two things I repeatedly read from Pro-Bonds camp are that you can't prove he did steroids since he's never been caught and that baseball didn't have a rule banning steroids anyway. Well, didn't he flat out admit to a grand jury that he took them? He said he did it unknowingly, but he still did them. As far as him not breaking the rules, using steroids is against the law, so it really doesn't matter what the MLB says about it. [/ QUOTE ] He admitted taking a substance that he thought was flaxseed oil but was actually steroids. Of course, Redbean hilariously wants a chemical analysis of the substance to establish definitively that it was steroids, even though no one has ever disputed that it was in fact steroids. Not even Bonds. Also, steroids were banned from MLB by commissioner Fay Vincent in 1991, though there was no testing until recently. So using steroids has been against the rules and therefore cheating since 1991. [/ QUOTE ] Lets cite rules which weren't enforced and nobody seems to know about without proof. This thread is so stupid I'm not posting in it again. |
