He's not checking an ace behind you on the flop.

not a strong one anyways, I often check behind on flop with A9-A2 there

PS you were running 40/35 at that table and check/raising every damn flop, so either you were running hot or you bluffed a lot more off me than I bluffed off you

and checking an ace twice there is pretty bad because I'm not stabbing with air pretty much ever...

you really have A9-A2 UTG?

Suited its possible

UTG my VPIP is 12 but I include many random hands 10ish% of the time I'm dealt them UTG within my range. Good habit for when I move up to prevent exploitability

Hey all, I got back from Reno today. Was trying to win a seat to the WSOP main event in a freeroll that Harrah's had given me. Unfortunately I am a horrible tournament player, and I always lose my mind in the mid-later levels of the tourney. I just can't seem to stop trying to steal blinds in early position with Ace rag. Which leads to me getting crippled, which leads to me getting busted.

The tourney was full of bad players too. Since it was a promotional event most of the players were just gamblers, with few having a clue about how to play poker.

Not that this was poker with the horrible structure and the slow dealers, but it was a free chance at a main event seat, and a couple other spots paid cash. So I'm still dissapointed with my performance.

Never the less. I ran awesome the 2 days I was there. I won 800+ in blackjack, and 400 in 3 1/2hrs of poker.

Casino poker has some of the softest games ever. The Eldorado has a 1/2 NL game with a 300 dollar cap buyin. One hand of note.

I was on the button w/ AA, and a donk in EP raises to 10 bucks, guy in the highjack raises to 30. The table was playing tight so I didn't feel the need to put in a raise since the 30 would likely be enough to run off the blinds. So I just called. EP donk calls.

Both players only had a little over a hundred bucks to start the hand.

Flop comes J 7 4, couple of spades. EP checks, and highjack goes all in for 79 total. I decide to call since EP doesn't have much behind, and I want a call from him here. Besides, unless the flop had came super scary I was felting this hand no matter what.

EP hems and haws, and decides to call. Leaving himself like 20 bucks behind. I don't really know where I stand with him, but I know my hand is good at the moment.

The turn is another Jack. The one card I didn't want to see, but villain checks weakly so I decided to put the rest of it in. He folds! He called 30 preflop, 79 on the flop, and folded for less than 20 bucks in a 300+ dollar pot!

Highjack turns up his QQ, and my aces hold.

After the hand I overhear EP donk saying that he had a gutshot, like 109 or something. LOL.

TL;DR

Cliff notes: Went to Reno. Busted out of WSOP main event freeroll sattelite. Won money at BJ. Won money against horrible players in poker.

Had a good vacation, and added to my roll. Now I'm gonna try and build my roll for when I go to Vegas for a week at the end of the month.
