Oh...Nxf2. Didn't look closely enough. That said, I think we need to get a rook behind our pawn as quickly as possible and support any reasonable queen move.

whoops didn't mean that to be the whole reply. in any case, while it eliminates a lot of the nice threats on the king side, it would allow us to play Nc3, which attacks Rd1, blocks in the bishop and allows us to exchange the pawn at a2 with the pawn at d5, which would be fantastic.

I'm starting to look at 18... Ng4, 19 Bb2 Ne5, 20 Qd4 Qf6 (21 f4 Ng4) with some interest. If nobody good can tell me quickly why it sucks, I guess I'll look some more.

I'd seriously consider snapping that knight off once it got to e5 if I were white.

Again, I'll defer to the better players, but swapping the Knight for his Bishop without doubling our pawns seems to be a reasonable situation at this stage. Do we stand better than I'm thinking at the moment?

Well, after Ng4 Bb2 Ne5 Be5 Re5, White can't really win a pawn with Qd4 or else Rh5 Qxa7 Qd7 h4 Rxh4 draws. But he can just play Rac1 and look to play an ending vs. our weak isolated pawn.

We are looking seriously at 18...d4, sacrificing the pawn for compensation.

A) 19.Qxd4 Qxd4 20.exd4 Re2 (or maybe Rc2). Once the rooks are doubled on the second rank and the knight comes to d5, e4, or g4 depending on what White does, it will be hard for him to develop.

B) 19.exd4 Qd5 20.Qf3 Rc2 (20...Qxd4 21.Bxe3 is also interesting) with similar ideas.

Or 20.Kg1 Ng4 with the possibilities of Ne5 or Qh5.

He may be able to. But I think 20...Rc2 is stronger because he lacks good squares to develop his bishop (21.Be3 Rxe3).
