Actually, the law is unclear regarding tournaments being maxed at $800. The law says that a tournament buy-in cannot exceed the maximum amount wagered in ten like-kind non-tourament games. Well the maximum in no-limit cash games is $100 due to the no-limit poker law. Therefore they should be able to offer $1,000 tourneys. In addition, if players can keep more than $100 on the table after a win then the amount can be much higher.

I expect the Seminles to take advantage of the loopholes in this law if there are more dollars to be made.

so, if we follow your argument, then Hollywood and Hard Rock will limit their tournaments to $800, since the law/regs is now clear?

I wasn't arguing. And I don't think you can infer that at all.

I called Coconut Creek Casino on my way home from work ... they are going to match the fixed limit games spread by the non-Indian rooms and have a 1/2 and 2/5 NL game with max buy-ins to be determined. They also are going to have a PLO game. Looks like the earlier post was dead on the money.

Gotta feel bad for the racetracks in the area.

PLO will be sweet!! I live in S. Ga., but my mom is in S. Florida and goes to Coconut Creek all the time. (even won a car last fall in their drawing). Guess I'll be paying dear old mom a visit.

I figured I'd register just to clear up some confusion. The Hollywood Hard Rock will be able to spread up to 50/100 limit and no-limit, as well as 1-5, 2-10 etc. spread limit. No-limit tables will be of course charged for time instead of raked.

Edit: Tournaments should be staying the same, just with fewer tables.

This is all pretty overnight, but you can expect to see these games as early as Wednesday. Personally, I expect the Rock to be getting a lot of big names in the next week or two, and be incredibly busy.

After all of these pages, there is no love for my favorite casino: Miccosukee, in Miami. Nobody there knows of anything last time I spoke to them, which is a bummer.

With the higher stakes being permitted, is the rake on the limit games going to stay the same? Is there going to be a new max on the rake?
