If this is true, why is the SEMINOLE HARD ROCK in Tampa not doing the same???

I called the Seminole Casinos in Hollywood and Coconut Creek. They confirmed they will offer the new limits efferctive 12:01 am on July 1. They will not spread the games any earlier. They also confirmed they plan to offer NL with $100 max initially. They do not plan on exceeding $100 max buy in even though the law is written differently.

That's dumb of them. They could instantly cripple the other card rooms by making better/bigger NL games, and they won't???

Between this and Dania's lack of a strong tourney sked, maybe people don't think South Florida is cut out for anything but low-stakes poker?

I think it's the same reason why they've only spread the $2 limit games -- they don't want to rock the boat on poker so as to keep the door open for bigger things at some point.

Here is what I never got...they kept the $2 max for cash games as the pari-mutuels, but they did not comply with the law when it came to tournaments. Hollywood and Hard Rock offer tourneys for several times the max $45. What was their rationale? I imagine that a $1050 SNG would have been (and still would be) a bigger deal than a cash game. The casinos make almost the same rake money on a $2 cash game then they do on a higher cash game. Therefore there is no need for the Seminoles to try and push high stakes games.

Tournaments are different. They make a much higher rake providing $140 to $1000 SNG then they would if they provided $45 SNG. The legislature never had rules before regarding the tournaments so the seminoles interpreted their own rules. In pari-mutuel the legislature sets the law and Florida Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering then creates the rules that the cardrooms must follow. The Seminoles are not bound by these rules. Only by the letter of the law.

The law was never really clear on tournaments. But it was on $2 cash games, and going beyond that clearly would have been akin to giving the governor the finger.
