Are you saying we get AA UTG and should only raise to 2.5 BB??? WTF? Do you WANT to get outdrawn?

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, I don't know about 2.5BB, but I regularly raise only 3BB UTG regardless of my hand. I don't think the FE is all that much different than a 4BB raise for anyone except the blinds. Different, but not much at all.

And I'm definitely not going to raise AA to 4BB but my other hands to 3BB from UTG. I still play about 22% of my hands from UTG, and I open with a raise 99% of the time.

yes...I want opponents to try and outdraw me much more than just taking the blinds with my AA

[/ QUOTE ]

You will have 3 or 4 callers way more often than you will get the blinds with a raise like this.

My 3BB raises UTG at 100NL 6m on stars very, very rarely get 3+ callers. I get the blinds much more often than that. Most often is 1 or 2 callers, who will fold to a cbet most of the time.

BW - Nice post. This is something that has helped me and my roll alot. I had been playing at NL $50 with about $700 at Party prior to this post. Since I made this post, I have cleared two $100 and three $50 boni's and my roll is now up to $1200 after about 3500 hands. Adding a buyin to the roll every 500 hands regardless of how much I'm winning at the table has been a very, very goot thing

Gobgogbog, MyTurn2Raise,

phil was talking about full ring, not 6max.

That being said, you still want to raise MORE when you're OOP.

If you want to discussthis any further, then lets make a new thread and not clutter up this post which is on a completely different subject

I did find, however, that after losing a big pot... I overvalued marginal hands. This was most important part of getting better and understanding why I lost money.

A typical progression was as follows:
Following my standard guidelines for play, I raise a good hand, flop a good hand/draw, and lose my stack in what would be considered an acceptable way.
Then, I pick up a top pair type hand. After flopping the top pair, I became FAR, FAR too willing to go to the felt with it.

This is SO true... good post

Well, I wasn't talking about Phil. But point taken about cluttering this thread.
