First, great post and info. I need to incorporate some of this additional info into my exports.

Second, depressing post. I've been struggling at 3/6 and see myself in one of your categories. Appropriately it is the "frown". I suspect that if I've got 30 hands with you, this is my icon. hmpf.

I'm in a similar boat -- I'm stuck at "eagle," with "money bag" just out of reach.

First off, great post Bison! I have a question, though. How do you separate full games from shorthanded games? Obviously, the stats will be a bit skewed if I've played both full and short games with a player. Do you know if there is any way to exclude all stats from games where there are less than a certain number of players?

You can tell the export or the rater to only use stats from certain games. To have 2 different ratings, I think you'd have to set up 2 databases.

i recently added a post to thge poker-tracker 'suggestions' forum that it would be VERY nice to have a #-of-players filter for the notes-export.

i also mentioned tht i would like a #-of-players filter for the preferences page.
the #-of-players filter on the general tab is only at the bottom part (the known hands). if i'm looking at a specific opponent's stats on the general-tab it still shows his VPIP for hands when we were 3-handed and 10-handed and 7-handed, etc.
a real pain.

anyway...go to the ptracker suggestions forum and second my motion if you like.

on my notes i had the numbers for SF and SFNB (see-flop not a blind). if these numbers are reasonably close to the VPIP then most of my hands against him are full-table. if the discrepency is significant then he saw more hands in the blind....meaning probably at a short-table where he gets the blind more frequently.

it's not a perfect system....but it helps me sort out all the VPIP-45 guys.
is this guy really a VPIP-45?? or a guy that i played a bunch of hands with 3-handed??

i've also thought of 2 different data-bases.....but that won't work as much for me.
sometimes i'll join a 4-handed table and stay on it when it fills-up to 10-handed.
these are all hands on the same tables and the opponents that were with me from beginnig to end are going to have rather tainted VPIP and PFR stats....and i don't see how a seperate database can help this situation very much.

Dude!!!! The pokertracker autorating kicks ASS!!! I've got it running right now... It updated 319 players.

My rating is "Slightly Loose Aggressive-Aggressive" because my VP$IP is 21.40. Not quite low enough to get me counted as tight.

Bison, this post really opened my eyes to what pokertracker can do, and got me off my ass to get it done. Thanks.

Same here... I'm slightly loose

Keep in mind Bison's reccomendations are just that - reccomendations. I think his strategy is very sound, but I have already started to tweek it for the most optimal results. I have quite a few players who I have seem 100+ hands from who are not rated because they fall out of the Bison-Zone. I'm continuing to tweek so this doesn't happen!

When you're looking for a table, how do you find one with the most fishies? Do you just have to pick a table and manually check PT for their profiles, or is there some other easier way that I'm missing?

I too love the new AutoRate. This feature has done the most to inspire my play since I bought my first Sklansky book.

I never took the time to break down the notes of the other players, and used PT to mainly evaluate my own results. This, along with the advanced export, has actually improved my play at the table b/c I don't fear an overpair as much when I see the LA-A bet into my KK with an A on the board.

I'm still listed as a Rock according to Bison's stats, because I just can't bring myself to PFR the KJs, QJs, or JTs. Oh well, at least I finally know where I stand.

Best of all, as it was grading the 400+ other players, at least 70% of them were classified as fish. LOVE IT!!!

Shaun
