BTW what is with WWE having 2 brands? Do the wrestlers from each brand only fight their own? Is there any difference between the 2 brands? [/ QUOTE ] Smackdown and RAW. each brand has a weekly 2hr show. not much difference in general just personal preference as far as I can tell. i think their PPV's are still shared but i may be wrong - been out of the game for a while. |

BTW what is with WWE having 2 brands? Do the wrestlers from each brand only fight their own? Is there any difference between the 2 brands? [/ QUOTE ] The brands for the most part are separate. Raw is the #1 show, Smackdown is the #2 show. You can tell because it's on Friday night when nobody watches tv. The shows fluctuate sometimes as to which one is superior entertainment. Right now it's hard to say which one sucks worse becuase it's just not a good time for WWE right now. On Saturday Night's Main Event the main event is a Smackdown v. Raw six-man tag team bout that is supposed to make us wrestling fans gape in awe and wonder but which really makes us kind of go wtf? The general consensus is that they should end the brand split and put together one killer roster again. Edit: The pay-per-views are pretty much brand specific, except for the traditionally big shows like of course Wrestlemania and Royal Rumble and the like which are shared. |

- Stacy Keibler: $178,000 (Only downside paid during absence) [/ QUOTE ] Probably why you will see more of Stacy in Hollywood (movies, tv, etc.) now (after Dancing with the Stars) than you will on the WWE. |

Wow, I thought they made A LOT less. I remember watching Beyond the Mat and had the impression that most were making 5 digits and the top guys about $500k.

Why does Triple H get so much money? He was always a douche. [/ QUOTE ] helps when you are the son-in-law of the boss some of these contracts are very high due to them being signed during the last hot period. Case in point is Angle's(this was before all of his neck problems flared up) and especially Big Show's(I think he still has like 4 years left on his 1 million a year deal for when he jumped from WCW). Benoit is a case where his hot period contract finished late last year and is now on a new lower contract |

I would imagine salaries were actually higher then. |

WWE had net income of $39mm and $48mm in FY2005 and 2004 respectively. What is the total of salaries paid to the performers? Looks to me like Vince is doing a good job of mazimizing shareholder value.
I've also heard rumors that Vince tries to keep many wrestlers from becoming too popular because then he would have to pay them more. |

I've also heard rumors that Vince tries to keep many wrestlers from becoming too popular because then he would have to pay them more. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think this is the reason, though it's not beyond Vince to be this stupid. The main reason is that WWE is very structured in terms of who gets pushed and who doesn't. You'll notice that people like Kane who no one cares about is always near the top of the card. That's his place and he will be there until he leaves. You're not allowed to break out into your own stardom without the official ok. Not becuase they would have to pay you more, but because you'd be taking someone's place. This is why wrestlers like HHH are locker room politicians, they know they have to keep other guys down to maintain their place. The only guys with approval to move up the card currently are Chris Masters on Raw and Randy Orton on Smackdown. |
