Gilbert is low, but I don't think he's crazy low. He's exciting as hell to watch, but he's still a chucker. His shooting percentages aren't that great. His only saving grace in that regard is his ability to get to the line and he's an excellent free throw shooter.

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't forget that Gilbert is still only 25 years old, and hes shown constant improvement throughout his career. He has shot right around 43% for his career, which isn't bad considering that he takes around 7 3s per game(takes about 20 total shots).

I think that hes everything Iverson was in his prime but better( more efficient, less assists, more rebounds, less steals).

BTW, this is totally out of nowhere but Allen Iverson's steal-to-fouls stats are very impressive. For two years in a row he put up 2.8 and 2.7 steals with only 1.7 and 1.8 fouls.

HMmmmmmm...actually I think its a very close comparison....lets do a poll!

You didn't do a great job defending him. He's actually jacking around 8 3s a game as part of his 20 shot onslaught. He doesn't shoot 3s well enough to be jacking 'em up like that. He's only a career 36% 3pt shooter. For comparison, he's only scoring around 2 more ppg on 3s than Nash is, on 3.5 more attempts.

Last season, he scored 1.35 points per shot, which isn't awful, but it's not great.

I hope he does get better. He rules. I voted him over AI, btw.

it's nice to see "nash" and "hall of fame" in the same sentence.

If I were to make a list the way I would judge a players worth would be. If I were to start and NBA team today and not in fantasy terms who would i build a team around to win for this season. The top 5 of his list is fine cant argue, but imo kidd, melo, pierce, parker all to high. Arenas, boozer, deron, paul all to low.

Am I really the only one that is surprised Sheed isn't on it?

I mean really... he's a top-50 player IMO unless you don't rate (low-post) defence (cough Zach Randolph cough).

-I think Dwight Howard is better than Bosh and Amare. Amare benefits greatly from Nash. Howard is simply more physical and dominant than those two...scary to think that he doesn't even really have any great moves or great touch yet.

[/ QUOTE ]

Howard is NOT better than Amare of Bosh. He's a more gifted athlete (as demonstrated by his ownership of the most dunks last year) but that's it. Led the league in TO at over 300 and that's without putting the ball on the floor... Granted he is only 21 but come on. Amare is first team all-NBA, Bosh is second team all-NBA while D-HO is 3rd. Thats the way it should be...

Well the thing is, with a well run offense, those screens set up the screener as well as the screenie...Case in point, how many open J's do Detroit big men get from the baseline/high post due to guys hedging on Rip's curl? Completely unscientifically, I'd say that Detroit gets 3 buckets a game where McDyess/Sheed set the pick on the left elbow, flare to the corner when their guy helps, and stick a J. Billups gets the assist, but the play was created because Rip is so money on that 16-foot turn in.

[/ QUOTE ]

This differs only in execution, however, from a guy who gets most of his shots putting the ball on the floor and going to the bucket. When he beats his man, the defense has to rotate to him, and this will lead to opportunities for others. He doesn't always get the assist, though -- he's often making the pass that leads to the pass that gets the assist.

Blah blah blah. What matters is who you think the 4th best player in the league is.
