College part time, poker full time FTW. Best of both worlds. So it takes you twice as long to get your degree, who cares. Not like you're going to use it while poker games exist. And you have some formal study commitments to add balance to your life.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] why is it rarely mentioned that you can do both? [/ QUOTE ] yeah, seriously. I never went to college or anyting like that but how much of your time does it honestly take up? [/ QUOTE ] it doesn't have to take up much if you don't want it to, but you probably won't get that much out of it if you don't put in the time. Going to school while playing poker is not advisable. You will probably do mediocre in both, or bad in one and ok in another, in my personal experience. I agree with Brian on this one. [/ QUOTE ] id just like to chime in and say this is a bunch of [censored] if you have some common sense. |

For anyone who is under the age of 23 that plays poker semi- seriously, getting a degree before turning pro is much more +EV then dropping out and turning pro immediately for like 90+% of those individuals who fall into this category. I would think this would be obvious to those who disagree.

[ QUOTE ]
Townsend: Yeah. It's kind of funny. Last summer I came out and I brought maybe $100,000.00, which is a lot of money for me. And I did really well one night — a quarter million or even more when I was playing some 200/400 no-limit. And a lot of the live pros were just giving me [censored]. Nobody knew who I was. They were just generally just [censored]. One guy challenged me to a heads up, freeze out, dick waving competition, bring a million dollars, whole thing. And then this summer I come out and he's like, "Oh, can I have a loan?" And he was totally sucking up to me and you just gotta realize some people are like that and deal with it accordingly. [censored] awesome [/ QUOTE ] is this refering to sammy? |
