Incorrect. Yes, the religous schools (that rely on charity) are the cheapest. However, there are a lot of schools out there that charge lower tuition then property taxes and operate without charity of subsidies. I don't think you realize exactely how much per student gets spent on our failure of an educational system. It is rely quite remarkable we get no results with all this money. It isn't that hard to run a school for less.

The netherlands and hong kong already have a well functioning system of private schooling. Shockingly, they end up well educated.

Cost may be regional, since I only researched costs in NJ, but there are no high schools without endowments or subsidies that are cheaper than public schools.

As far as comparisons to other countries goes, you need to compare their results to similar family makeups. When you have lower divorce rates and fewer dual earner families, quality of education goes up. Surprise surprise surprise.

Private schools often operate for less then you pay in property or other taxes to attend school. Not only would poor kids be able to go to school, it would cost less.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not without endowments or other subsidies.

FedEx can, in many cases, deliver packages cheaper than the postal service. Why couldn't education be provided more efficiently as well?

Cheaper to whom? If you look at dollars spent per student, I'm sure plenty of (if not most) private schools are cheaper than nearby public schools.

So help me understand. You are saying that by taking away someone's freedom and by physically forcing them to do things you are actually giving them more opportunities?

[/ QUOTE ]

Obviously.

Obviously not?
