I was saddened to learn Peter Tomarken died in a plane crahs last year.

[/ QUOTE ]

I didn't know this. Just looked it up.

There was a super-quiet, shy girl I went to grade-school to whom I never paid any attention to at all because she pretty much never spoke.
Then I found out that this girl, Emma Tomarken, was cousins with the host of Press Your Luck and I thought she was the coolest chick ever.

If River Phoenix isn't too famous then certainly Farley and Hartman are ok for this thread. They had similiar levels of fame.

[/ QUOTE ]

What? No way. It goes Farley>Hartman>Phoenix in order of fame. Phoenix was a "rising star" whereas Farley and Hartman were fully ingrained in pop culture at the time of their death. I mean come on, Almost Heroes >>>>>>>>> Stand By Me

The whole point of putting "kinda famous" was keep it being 1000 mentions each of Cobain, Hendrix, Morisson, Elvis, James Dean. Non icon status for sure... the lesser known the better though.

The mustard's off the hotdog!

He's in the popcorn machine! With butter and salt all over him.

He has two chances, slim and none, and slim just left the building.

TD: Yes! Ian Curtis. He certainly set the bleak tone for Joy Division. I often wonder how long they would have stayed together if he hadn't killed himself

[/ QUOTE ]

mmmm they're basically still together?

[/ QUOTE ]

The surviving members reformed as New Order. They more or less officially disbanded earlier this year.

Almost everybody in this thread is without question famous.

[/ QUOTE ]

And very few would still be contributing good entertainment if still alive.

Right on. It's always good to hear some love for Warren. If you aren't familiar with his music, watch some of his clips on You Tube. Great stuff.

Do not post Jimi Hendrix, James Dean, Cobain, Elvis. and the like.

[/ QUOTE ]

Was Cobain famous before he died? I was in college at the time and he was famous enough that he it made the news, and everyone said "Kurt who?" Then someone would explain who he was.
