Sweet, just found like a thousand dollars stuffed inside a book while I was looking for a letter from UCSD. At least something went right this week.

[ QUOTE ] 3k swing? You ain't seen nothing yet my friend. [/ QUOTE ] I'm moving back down to 20, I think. I'd rather not age prematurely. [/ QUOTE ] I was there(commerce) last month for two weeks with a friend, we both had some pretty sick swings in the 40. One night I wake up at about 9pm(I had no schedule, I was sleeping at all diff. hours of the day) and go downstairs to play the 40 and get seated right next to my friend. I woke up when he left the room, then went back to bed, so I know he has only been playing for about four hours. So anyway he's got about four and a half racks infront of him so I'm like "sweet dude." He then informs me he's in for five racks and I laugh. Sometime in the early morning hours the game breaks and we draw for the open seats. I ran so bad at drawing for seats, 9 draws in the two weeks I was there and not once did I draw over a 6. It got so bad that once I had Martix draw for me and he drew a six, and I say, "No tip for you" -soup Nazi style. Anyway I take my four racks over to seat 9 at the new table, I [censored] hate seat 9 and think about not playing but I'm not tired and my friends in seat 1 so I stick around, he also brought about 4 racks over from the other table. So around 10am we resume drinking. I forgot to mention that around 11pm we started ordering double captian/diets we knew we didn't have much time till final call so we just ordered a new round every time the waitress brought us our drinks. By 1pm I was down to one rack and my friend was down to about $600, he leans over and asks for a $1000 "just incase". He proceeds to go on this sick heater and by 5pm has a tower of chips. At some point he disappears leaving his mass of chips on the table. When the douche next to me asks for a set up for about the tenth time I decide to go up to the room to freshen up and see if he's up there. He's pretty much passed out on the bed. Did I mention we were both drinking? So I get alittle conversation out of him but it's apparent he's not making it back down and he tells me to have the floor pick him up. The final tally was ~$8500 in chips plus the $1000 in cash that he never had to dip into. I'm still feeling good so I play on, I'm where I was at about 5 hours ago....1 rack. I decided to call in quits around midnight, a nice 26 hour session. I call for a chip runner and ask for some racks, he brings me 4, I tell him he's half way there and to grab me 4 more. He offers to help me rack up and I'm like no way man this is the best part. I tip him what ever amount of red and blues I have in front of me and send him on his way. I don't remember that many of the hands during my run but I really wasn't getting to crazy, I was just getting really good hands and hitting. At one point after scooping my fourth pot in a row I look down at KQoff in early position and raise. I get 3-bet then 4-bet by two guys on the other end of the table and I just look down there and start laughing and say something like, "Are you guys crazy have you not been paying attention for the last hour? Just muck now and save yourself some bets." The flop comes KQx and long story short I drag another one. I can't wait to go back. |

[/ QUOTE ] I found a thousand dollars of free money at the 40 game tonight: I raise a limper with KTs and get 5 callers (including the BB and limper). Flop is QT5, I bet and get 4 callers. Turn is 6, I bet and get 3 callers. River is 8, I bet and get 1 caller and MHIG. Ship me the $1,360 pot plzkthx. Felt like I was back at 6/12. |

[/ QUOTE ] Your life sounds a bit too Rounders-esque -DeathDonkey [/ QUOTE ] I think back when I was a winning poker player I had this nice sized pile of dollars that I was too lazy to count just sitting on my tv or something and then the weekend I went to Commerce and won money someone was going to come over to kill termites or clean the carpet or something so I quickly counted like 10k out of the stack to play with and shoved the remainder into the book and forgot about it by the time I had gotten home. No matter how it got there I am pretty glad to see it the way things have been going lately. The beat of course is that I am unable to find the letter I was looking for, if it exists at all. That means I have a class starting tomorrow (I think) at 2pm (I think) in an unknown building in an unknown room. I also have no clue whether I'm allowed to park my car on campus or if I was supposed to get a permit or something. I hope I can just pay a machine when I get there tomorrow because I was planning to play Ocean's both before and after the class (yes I'm a degen). |

If the shuttles are running park at UTC and take the shuttle to and from UCSD, parking on campus is ridiculous and expensive and you'll spend more time looking for a spot than anything else. Note that my experience is from normal school time, not summer school so it might not be bad at all.
Traffic going to Ocean's after 2-3 pm is going to be murder though. I hope you don't go broke but if you do I'd like to get on the list to stake you plz. -DeathDonkey |

Unless I wind up going on like a 1000BB live downswing I don't think I have to worry about going broke but I appreciate it anyway. I think I still have like 70k or so dollars which hopefully means I'm "safe" playing 40 and 60. When I finally get back up to Commerce I'm not going to play any more 1/2 unless the game is insanely good and people are wanting to 7bet me with K2 on a QJ6 flop like last time. I don't really want to play 75 at Ocean's but I have been constantly trying to hustle people degen style to play the game all summer so now that it is going I feel like I have to play it.
I'm actually winning (sort of) for the summer, but this past week was just so brutally disgusting. I was also super close to having my first 100k which would have been fun but now it's like a million hours of grinding away which is the opposite of fun. And yes the traffic going north is the worst thing since unsliced bread. Aside from the fact that the games get better as the night goes on, I specifically try to never leave my house before about 6:30 pm because sitting in traffic puts me on tilt worse than any poker beat. |

Pretty sure everyone I know who is good at cards is losing right now. Makes me think that I should switch to the style that seems to be taking all the money. Loose passive. I will provide a TR if and when I make the switch.

I was having a horrible time of it tonight at CAZ's 40 (unlike SOME people I know who can drag a monster pot w/ 9-6o and get to make a very witty remark afterwards) and I was going to leave stuck ~$2,200 but decided to play one more round and this hand came up:
1 folder and I raise from the SB w/ 2 black Kings. Everybody calls. Flop (I'm a bit hazy on which was which so I'll just say): K-9-4 w/ 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]s The player to my left was playing the 75 short-handed the other night and people in the 40 game I was at were saying that he was really good from the internet or somesuch. Anyway, I bet, that player raised and a few people called. I 3-bet, he capped and the same people called. I figured somebody's got the flush draw and it's either him or he flopped an under-set. Turn: Black 7. I bet, he raises (under-set for sure now), the rest fold, I 3-bet, he calls. River: X. I bet, he calls and when he sees my hand he says: 'I would never raise pf w/ that hand. That is why I put you on Aces.' I say 'Why not', he says 'There're too many players. If an Ace flops your finished. If you just call pf and an Ace flops you can just fold.' Me: 'Oh, I never thought of that.' So: Is this fellow trying to BS me or does that give me some useful insight into his thinking and playing style? |
