NH. I don't know why you're betting that river though. If villain is any good, you could be turning your hand into a bluff. [/ QUOTE ] Plenty of 1-pair hands will still call me on that river. QQ/JJ/JT/9-x. I don't like check-calling because there aren't really any missed draws he can bluff, but he often has a 1-pair hand that would check behind. |

Holy... [censored]... [censored] does the advice in this forum suck.
If someone is wholeheartedly trying to improve they should post in MSNL, and I'm being incredibly serious. This post is a trainwreck. Bet the flop. Bet the turn! Value bet and block the river. As played, fold to the raise. C/C the turn is horrendous for several reasons. You let him dictate the betsize, you let him take the initiative, you let him take a free card, you don't extract value when ahead, AND most importantly you gain absolutely no information about his hand. Calling this river is horrendous (unless you have a read), and is very -ev in the long run. You turned your cards face up, and he still shows strength. The only hand you beat is a bluff. |

1/2 FR plays totally different from 2/4-5/10 6max

1/2 FR plays totally different from 2/4-5/10 6max [/ QUOTE ] This was a heads-up pot, which 6-max has a LOT of. I don't agree with your assertion about this situation being different, but let's assume you are right. Step 2: explain to me why check/calling the turn is the correct play. Hell, why stop there? Call the raise preflop, limp if there is no raise. C/C the flop. C/C the turn. C/C the river. Passive play ftw. Seriously if you want to be tricky, or are playing against a player who floats a lot. Then C/R the turn, however OP provided no such reads so I'm assuming this is an unknown in which case a bet is correct. |

it is so lame how every once and a while some gay 6maxer comes in here and insults our forum. then they give gay 6max advice that would never work at fr.

This was a heads up pot, and it doesn't matter if there were 10 or 6 players preflop. I play 5/5 and 5/10 full ring. The advantage to me being a gay "6-maxer" is that I don't play like a weak-tight pussy, and can identify profitable situations and adjust when the game becomes shorthanded. There's a reason that the average MSNL/HSNL poster makes more in a year than 10 of you guys. And I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me why check/calling the turn is the correct play, because I explained why it isn't. |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm a former 6-max player myself and play 20/15 at FR, so LOL at you assuming that I am weak tight and cannot adjust to short-handed play. [ QUOTE ] And I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me why check/calling the turn is the correct play, because I explained why it isn't. [/ QUOTE ] Fine. Since the flop is not very drawwy, a lot of his range is 1-pair hands that probably fold to a turn 2-barrel, so checking and betting the river can extract more value against those hands. |

He could have dozens. ...and if people consistently fold to double barrels, you should be bluffing with them more often. ...and you referred to him as a donk. Donks pay you off with many 1pair hands that you beat here. This is FPS. You often have the best hand, the board is draw heavy and this is no longer a WA/WB situation so you bet it. |
