guys, choices like Jude Law, Ben Affleck, Sean Connery, and Harrison Ford are NOT inexplicable. They're all good looking with a bit of charm and/or personality. You might not like them or think they're no good, but they are still obvious leading men.

Richard Dreyfuss and Chris O'Donnel are good choices, though. Even though I love Dreyfuss.

There is no way Jude Law and Ben Affleck are "obvious" leading men. Affleck spends about 90% of his screen time with his mouth hanging open. Dumb-looking does not make someone an "obvious" leading man...and exactly what "charm" does he have?

Jude law looks like he weighs about 110 lb. soaking wet. He has beady little tiny eyes with bags around them and can't seem to figure out how a comb works. Whatever "charm" he posseses is solely due to his accent, and he whines his way through roles. For the life of me, I can't think of a single characteristic that makes him a leading man.

Your post sounds like you're saying anyone good looking with some charm is an "obvious" leading man. We're not talking about porn here, Dom.

I think Chris O'Donnell is too low key to be a leading man. He makes a good sidekick.

I have been really disappointed in Vince Vaughn's performances. He has the looks (and supposedly the humor), not sure why it isn't working for me.

I am not a fan of Tobey Maguire. This guy doesn't do anything for me at all.

Richard Dreyfuss? I remember liking him in something. Has he made any good movies in the past 10 yrs?

I think he's a really good actor, but then he figured out it was easier and he could make more money spitting out mediocre comedies.

Some of these guys I really like, just not as "leading men". Also, some of them have been leading men in pretty good movies. I just don't think lucking into a single role that worked necessarily means they're "leading man" material.

Christian Slater
Jason Patric
Bill Paxton (as much as I like him, he's just not lm material)
Bill Pullman
Guy Pearce
Samuel L. Jackson
Leonardo DiCaprio
Adrien Brody
Jared Leto
Greg Kinnear
Mark Ruffalo
Robert Downey Jr.
Charlie Sheen (or any other family member)
Tim Robbins

Whoa there Trigger. Come back to the barn. Leo is a superb actor.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree with DrewDevil. Leo is awesome.

And Greg Kinnear?! No way. I strongly disagree. Kinnear is a really fine actor and I would love to see him cast as a leading man.

apparently, you haven't seen much porn.

Like I said, you may not like them but that doesn't mean they aren't obvious leading man material. Ben Affleck is the poster boy for "wooden leading man." He's this generation's Rod Taylor.

I loved Richard Dreyfuss in the Goodbye Girl.
I am not sure about his more recent work.

What about Jeff Daniels?

Like I said, I wasn't implying anyone on that list wasn't a good actor. I like Kinnear, but I guess you've forgotten about "Dear God".

So being really obviously awful as a leading man makes one obvious leading man material? This argument really makes no sense, Dom.
