"Forget Paris", featuring the insufferable Billy Crystal, had previews which featured at least 50% NBA action, leading guys to think it would contain some basketball content. Huge cocktease, I think all the NBA stuff made it to the previews and the other two hours was a terrible chick flick, in which some dumb broad plays mind games with Billy Crystal. WTF.

LOL punked by Billy Crystal!

In my defense I would never pay to see a film in which Billy Crystal is the lead actor. It happens that I was on a vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and we were flipping around and came across it. The movie was SO BAD we couldn't change the channel. And that's when I noticed that in addition to its sucking there is literally like zero additional NBA footage, it's all in the preview.

Per my note above, IIRC, the trailer/commercials for "Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind" played up the comedy angle big-time.

I only remember the trailer where they played Mr. Blue Sky (ELO). It had a "nostalgic" feel to it, at least for me.

The Score, with Norton/Brando/De Niro. Previews showed Norton and De Niro as thieves and Norton pulled a double cross, so I figured the movie would be about De Niro getting revenge. Turns out that the entire movie is about the two of them working together to set up this caper and the doublecross is like the dramatic surprise climax of the movie. Doubleu-tee-efff

p.s. I thought executive decision was an awesome movie

It was so long ago, I honestly can't remember if it was good or not. I just know I went in wanting some Steven Seagal ass kicking, and got Steven Seagal dying. Not good.

"halfbaked"

Not a single preview I saw even remotely suggested it was a movie about weed.

Guys,

I like this trailer for Requiem for a Dream

[/ QUOTE ]
thanks i was looking for this one and could only get the toy story version

[/ QUOTE ]

To be fair, the Toy Story mashup is pretty much the reason the internet was created. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1qihwMN0JM

Almost all of the "recut a serious movie to be a light hearted movie" trailers miss the genius of the original Shining one.
