I can't believe some of you people. Piss and moan that WPEX needs to fix this and that, get more people, etc, and when they do what needs to be done achieve these goals, you throw a hissy fit because now you're getting *only* 75% rakeback.
Cry me a freakin river. |

WPEX always seems to take one-step forward and two steps back. Taking 25% to increase business is fine by me, as this may improve game selection, but is this where the money is going? Not most of it. First, they announce the cut in rake, and then they announce in the same breath that they will add 15K a week spread over three tournaments. Makes sense, that is until one stops and considers that these tournaments are open to anyone with $10 bucks in their account. Anyone can go to another site, with better game selection and softer games, for all their cash play and pop into WPEX and play tournaments with 5K added three times a week. [/ QUOTE ] Did you miss the part about having to have $75 in earned rakeback the previous week in order to be eligible for the $5000 added tournaments for the current week? David Solomon |

[/ QUOTE ] This is an interesting point. WPEX says the "inaugural" events will be open to all customers. Unless I missed it, it does not define "inaugural." Since "events" is plural, I'm guessing the three this week? Not my point, though.... The first of these tourneys had (I believe) 207 entrants. A lower number than there might have been since it's date/time was not available until sometime that day. I know I'd have played in it if I'd paid a little more attention and saw it was there. So, once only the $75 rakeback VIPs are the only players able to play this, what do you think the average nuber of entrants will be? It could easily be 75-150 and I'm thinking probably a bit narrower range than that. This tourney may not be that much deeper than the nightly $10/$1,000 guarantee. That makes this tournament(even if it kept 200 runners) a great way for active WPEX players to get a nice kickback. This isn't the FPP usage that was asked for earlier in this thread, but it's close. Tuesday's tourney, IIRC, paid $1,944 to first. Players' contributions to the prize pool was $2,070. That's pretty sweet. |

David Solomon [/ QUOTE ] I did, I'm a casual player and I reckon in over 12 months at the site I have had 1 week >$75 in rake (mostly 5/10 but also 3/6 and 2/4 LHE). This "promotion" is going to benefit the pro / grinder players the most, this is EXACTLY what WPEX was supposed to be against!!! What the hell is going on??? At the limits I play (which are by no means micro) I doubt there will be enough games running to hit $75 even if I wanted to. Also, while I'm pissed off and ranting, why not make at least 1 of the 3 tourneys Euro friendly??? |

WAIT A SEC, HERE... IF THE CONCERN THAT WPEX HAD WAS TRANSFER COSTS, WHY NOT JUST CHARGE PEOPLE TO WITHDRAWL, RATHER THAN CHARGING RAKE??!

That certainly gives a new meaning to the phrase casual player. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, I work abroad quite a lot plus I'm married with 2 young children and I've just submitted a Masters' Thesis so I guess you could say I'm a casual player, after all I do need to sleep on occasion.. I reckon $75 is about 600+ hands per week. I havn't seen a full 5/10 table since the rakeback was cut to 75%. What's your definition of casual? |

5hrs playing 1 table isn't casual enough for you? Play 2 and you only have to play for 1/2 the time. Seriously, cry me a river. Enjoy your added tournament $ now being subsidized by the grinders that you oh so hate.
