[ QUOTE ]
Yes. RLY. There's not 1 poker player in 10,000 that reports his gambling income. [/ QUOTE ] This is one of the stupiest, most misguided posts I have read in some time. You are either a troll, idiot, or playing micro-stakes. Either way, your advice is completely irrelevant to someone earning livable, salary-type wages at poker. Please stop posting this drivel. Mods - I apologize, I am rarely this harsh vs. another poster but feel it is warranted here. -g |

[ QUOTE ]
Poker is NOT a business. It is playing a game for money. Businesses provide products and services. Poker players provide nothing, they simply take advantage of peoples gambling vices. [/ QUOTE ] Poker players are no different than sports or entertainment figures. They provide a clear service -- entertainment for others to complete in game of skill. And I've worked in many businesses, like consulting to name just one, which provides a service i think is much less valuable and worthwhile than anything a poker player does. [ QUOTE ] having conned your spouse does not make it correct to risk your family's welfare to accomodate your own selfishness. [/ QUOTE ] Don't impose your own warped and misguided view on others. He has increased his income, has a clear plan for sucess, has gotten the committment of the people who matter, is clearly happier, and expects to make more money. How exactly does is your strange morality relevant here? -g |

[ QUOTE ]
The point here is that all of the articles that I have read seem to state that it is easier if you are single. The truth as I see it is that if you have a partner that will help you it is easier. There are more issues to address but if your spouse will work with you then your individual issues can be less. [/ QUOTE ] this, obv, is an easier way to make a living playing poker. if someone lives in their parents basement and plays for a living, their hard weeks, months etc won't be as tough because they don't have to pay rent, utilities whatever. i think most of the going pro articles (ed miller's) that say you should be single when it comes to playing on your own means that you should be the only one relying on your poker income. if you wife is making a nice salary that can support your family and your poker is just something that sort of "extra", then you have the best benefits of anyone that plays for a living. |
