The concept of a women's WSOP event is horrible.

The same login that begets this event should lead to other fun stuff, like an all Vietnamese event.

I'm not bothering to read anything (and this isn't really the right forum for this, but I won't move it) but I'm pretty sure I agree with Annie's basic premise. There's nothing about being a woman that makes poker harder, and having a seperate woman's event is stupid and insulting.

[/ QUOTE ]

what if the seperate womens event isnt because women are at a handicap, but merely because poker is a HUGELY male dominated game, and a womens event will help bring more women into poker by building interest.

Also women tend to like to do things with other women, especially when they are doing an activity thats 95% men, I cant really explain it cuz im not a women, but its still a fact. A womans event gives them the opportunity for that.

[/ QUOTE ]

I understand all this, still think it's dumb. There's just too much connotation that it's a retard invitational. I also question how effective it would be in bringing new women into poker.

Boris,

Let's work on this Vietnamese event. I FEEL IT WOULD BE A NGUYEN/NGUYEN SITUATION!

how about "beginners invitational"?

OP, either you didn't think through your oppinion before you posted it (acted rashly on emotions; typical female problem) or you're a big dummy. Everyone here has an axe to grind with Annie 'filthy' Duke, but this just isn't legit. BTW where is Bettyqs ???

I think an all Vietnamese event would be pretty awesome and I would watch the final table on TV. I think an all Vietnamese women's event would be doubly awesome, and would watch that final table on TV as well.

I like the event, and it's cool is has a lot of history. I think it'd be a shame if they took it away.

I do believe that playing fields should be level. I'm not opposed to the Ladies/Seniors events, but I am opposed to bracelets being rewarded.

The WSOP does do some celebrity events and events for people in broadcast and tv only, but no bracelet is rewarded to the winner. Just money. Dave Tuchman([email protected]) won the broadcast/tv tourney last year, I believe, and was making cracks about, "Where his bracelet was?" on Live @ the Bike.

If the WSOP wants to do these events, that's all fine and dandy, more power to Harrah's. I don't believe they should be bracelet events. That said...

Annie Duke should go around throwing red paint on everyone in protest.

I'm waiting for the Native American Event to take off to scalp me an "easy bracelet."
