Johnny Chan has complained and threatened to refuse to play. [/ QUOTE ] Ha ha. Reminds me of my brief stretch playing with him at the 2005 Main-event. He jokingly showed his folded BB to the table and said, "It's the LOVE hand" and turned over 69. I guess this means he's not quite as in love with the 'love' hand anymore. |

If you look at the aces on the USPC Co's website and the aces in the pokulator picture posted above, you can see that there is a difference on which side the big "A" is on. It's like that for all the cards actually which I'm sure leads to the problem with the 6's and 9's being confused. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah. In the cards at http://www.bicycleprocards.com/ the "Bicycle Pro Cards" have the numbers in the normal upper left, lower right locations. Only the WSOP cards have the lower left, upper right location. Weird. From the article on the WSOP website, it looks like moving the numbers down was a "feature": [ QUOTE ] Based on player feedback USPC eliminated all but the angled corner design, removed the extra corner markings, and moved the larger side marking further down on the card to protect the top one-third of the card edge from “flashing” to other players at the table. I concede that the 6 and the 9 are a little confusing, and it's probably a pain in the ass the read the board, but that's pretty much it. The face cards and the other numbered cards are fine -- and i kinda like the small angled icon in the upper corners. [/ QUOTE ] teddyFBI, Are you at the Rio? Did you play with the cards? Every player at my table hated the cards and I haven't heard positive comments from anybody who actually played there. A lot of players had difficutly reading the corner of their cards because of the small print. |

Only the WSOP cards have the lower left, upper right location. Weird. [/ QUOTE ] Not weird but stupid. Very noble to design a new card to avoid flashing, but these cards have changed a fundamental given in that a player would always read the top half of a card. Now that is not the case, the player is required to read the left half of a card. I like the corners but to improve upon the cards - make the corner pips larger - have pips in each corner (for lefties) - put the card rank not in the usual top left, nor bottom left, but centered at the top. That would be the perfect card. Can someone photoshop it? |
