Before leaving he turned around and said "there is such evil in the world".
I have never before heard my father use the word evil in any context and this time he chose to use it when discussing the tragic events of our new car.
I honestly did not know whether to laugh or laugh.

It appears to be unintentional but this is a phenomenally funny line.

[/ QUOTE ]

Unlikely that it's unintentional.

What say you, MegaloMialo? Was this line unintentional or intentional?

Don't get logic in this thread. If my mom was whorish and somebody is pointing out something that's true, why do I have to beat him up? Getting upset with people for speaking the truth is silly.

Not really. Even if his mom IS a whore, is that really something a 20 year old kid needs to know? How does it benefit him to know that in any way?

All right you bunch of douchebags, that's enough. While my mother is not a saint on this earth, she isn't a whore, and I think using that word is just going a little bit too far.

Background info;

- My parents had a nasty divorce when I was 13. My mother, who is bi-polar, (but we did not know then), tried to turn my brother and I against my father. This went on for many years.

- I had basicly come around, but at the age of 20 I was still a bit wary of him. You can't doubt your mum, right? If she tells you for 8 years that he is evil personified and refers to him as f*ckface without using his name, it tends to stick after a while.

- My dad had never sort to re-attack, as he obviously knew that that would be just playing into her hands. He did not want to poison our relationship with our mother to save his relationship with us.

- Eventually my dads best friend stepped in and explained a few things to me when I was being particularly snot-nosed and indignant. He was absolutely right to do it. It was if a veil had been lifted from my eyes. Everything suddenly made sense.

- I never told my father what he told me. I felt it best to let sleeping dogs lie. No good would come from it, but now I knew the truth of the situation and how he had acted with great restraint over a long period of time.

- I have a good relationship with my mother. She doesn't know that I know this, no reason to tell her. We all make mistakes, and who the hell am I to judge? Who are any of us to judge?

It's pretty clear. You're just being willfully oblivious.

Says who? We can all judge based on our own values that we independantly verified and may have created. There is nothing wrong with judging. Whether the judgement is correct or not is a different story.

When I was around 14, listening to my mother bitch about her life, kids etc.

me: Yeah. But, if you could do it all over again, you wouldn't change a thing.
her: Yes, I would.
me: what?
her: I wouldn't have kids.

Ten years later, just before my father died. Arguing about something I can't recall.

Me: wtf?
him: God, you're just like your mother.

Couple days ago I'm on a fishing trip with my dad and he uses the F word for the first time that I can remember, ever. I'm 31, he's 64. He left his tackle box at the cabin.

Yikes, that's gotta sting. I would have to say that my dad would probably say the exact same thing.
