[ QUOTE ] i think people usually way overestimate how much money poker players have. PA is in good shape if he doesn't have to pay taxes, but even he has spent many hundreds of thousands on that baller car, watch(es), etc. The guys that make 5-10 mil spend money like crazy (usually). If I had to guess i'd say PA, wasicka, or aba. I'd just say that most of them probably don't have as much as people assume just because of the taxman and spending habits. It will be interesting to see (for NVG sake, of course) which of these players has the most money in 20 years. Eventually it turns into a game of who can invest/manage their finances the best and I don't think there are too many poker players that are very good at that. tc [/ QUOTE ] ding ding ding. TC just curious, but being a finance major you must put the majority of your income away. You an ETF guy or you actively manage it? [/ QUOTE ] i don't actively manage any of it myself but i have a few different accounts that are actively managed. i do try to save as much as i can because it would be no fun not having any money 20 years from now. tc |

[ QUOTE ] how much did TLK make when he was unbeatable? [/ QUOTE ] About a little over 2 Million [/ QUOTE ] P.S. we haven't seen much of TLK lately because he's went into business with a majority of his time. For instance, at like 21 yrs old or whatever he already is the owner of a bowling alley, and recently purchased 1.1M euros worth of land to put a hotel on. |

How much would the average full time pro spend a year if he/she were to play most/large portion of the 10k events and WSOP events. Assuming he had no backers, never swapped, and paid all of his travel expenses out of pocket as well? Also, include the money he has to "send home" to pay for exisiting bills while on the road.
This is a real question because I have always been curious. What would be your estimates using conventional wisdom? |

The usual answer is over half a million.

It just always seemed like it would be more than that. And then sometimes you factor in all the droughts a player can go through without cashing, coupled with streaks of 3 10k tourneys where you drop the benyamines, sit down, and bust within 2 levels. That [censored] has to pound away at your state of mind. To me, it has always been one of the more fascinating aspects of choosing poker as a profession. And not the good fascinating....

There is no way Aba is up more than Patrik from poker.
I'm not at all sure that Aba's last 6 month trend outpaces PA's last 6 months, but even if this were so you have to remember PA was up easily 3 M or so before Aba was even playing high limits. The only reason to be somewhat conservative with PA is I have no idea how he's doing in the big live games. In theory he could be down a few M there (if he were down more than that I would have heard). More likely he's up but I don't know. The Joe Cassidy suggestion is interesting... I didn't know he got 2M or whatever from backing Bartholdi. OTOH there is not as much money in playing big LHE games as someone suggested. That's pretty much all pro-on-pro action. Also Joe is kinda lazy and doesn't really play much poker at all. Hard to compete with people like PA or especially Aba who put in zillions of hands month after month. |

Doesn't PA play the 4K-8K too regularly? He made the final table of the horse tourney this year in the WSOP I asume the guy can play all mixed games. To think that ABA is near PA is a little to far. I think PA is a lock for this category and is competing with DB for most under 40.
