It really is true. And I'm not going to say something mean like the merely good players don't fully appreciate me. That's not the reason. It has to do with the fact that almost all poker plays combine your assumptions about your opponents possible hands and his playing proclivities with the logic and math required to exploit those assumptions. And my books don't focus on how to make those assumptions. For various reasons, the biggest one being that public disclosure can backfire once it is well known.

I keep waiting for this book to be written.

Plus SOR happens to be probably the single best 2+2 book.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually there's no book that 2+2 has ever published called, Sklansky on Razz, that I'm aware of.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hello Adios,

Sklansky on Razz originally was published by a different company, however when Two Plus Two published Sklansky on Poker, they included Sklansky on Razz in the book.

Original book

I believe Sklansky on Poker is one of the best 2+2 books ever.

If there's one thing I've learned in this forum (specifically books and pubs.) is that no matter how many people offer evidence to the contrary, there are those whose egos simply won't let them concede.

This internet is a great thing. You can claim just about anything as fact and expect that to hold up on its own merit.

MMan, you make a lot of statements in this thread but just lack any evidence to back any of it. Statements like, "trust me, I'm right" don't cut it.

What world class players have you played with? If this statement is correct, then the next time you play with said wc player(s), how about asking a few questions regarding this subject? You keep trying to prove your point by referencing things you think you've heard (e.g. Ivey doesn't read poker books).

I would like to add to my earlier comments about David's post seeming like common sense to me.

Stating that certain "great" players look down on 2+2 and then name-dropping,,even if "trust me" was good enough I'm not sure what you are refuting. David said "often", not always, and he said great players in contrast to good players, not all great players.

So are you then saying ALL great players NEVER use and appreciate a 2+2 book more than a good player. Or seldom instead of often. Or THESE great players don't.

I really don't see anything wrong with the statement, and as afore stated, it just makes common sense to me anyway.

I guess the only hitch would be you have to give David credit for knowing what he is talking about. And coming to this site, I would think you would.

The cruel truth that you are overlooking is that most great/supposedly great players *who are theoretically inclined* do NOT have an especially high regard for 2+2 books.

[/ QUOTE ]This is not a "truth"- it is an assertion"made without any evidence to back it up.

Who do you think was buying 2+2 books before the poker boom?

[/ QUOTE ]

It was like dianetics. Oz and Mason bought their own books to make it look like they were selling some.

Sbrugby: (Both answers from questions from Aba20's well.)
"None there are no good NL books avaiable, just read the forums. "
"Yes I have read phils book and it is ok but not great. NL theory and practice isn't very good either. I guess they will help your game but the forums are much better."

Firstly I said "my stuff", not my books or 2+2 books. That includes articles. Secondly I was talking about the great players (top 200) who HAVE read them. Thirdly I wasn't implying that this stuff helps them as much as as 30-60 players are helped. I was only saying that my stuff works best when you have a good read on your opponent which merely good players don't have in tough games.

I just had a conversation with one of our authors who was given an advance copy of:

The Full Tilt Poker Strategy Guide: Tournament Edition (Paperback) by Andy Bloch (Author), Richard Brodie (Author), Chris Ferguson (Author), Ted Forrest (Author), Rafe Furst (Author), Phil Gordon (Author), David Grey (Author), Howard Lederer (Author), Mike Matusow (Author), Michael Craig (Editor)

He called me to tell me that our books were mentioned positively in many places. Now I haven't seen the book yet but I suspect that you may want to look at it.
