Good points. My experience has been with EFTs, didn't realize you guys get 'hosed' for wires.
Do some of the sites pick up the fees? Don't you get screwed by the e-wallets eventually on withdrawl for currency conversion anyways? Although I realize that moving the money around thru e-wallets won't get multiple conversions, just the one time in and the final out, correct? |

Don't you get screwed by the e-wallets eventually on withdrawl for currency conversion anyways? Although I realize that moving the money around thru e-wallets won't get multiple conversions, just the one time in and the final out, correct? [/ QUOTE ] To be honest, I haven't used a site for a wire withdrawal, they may pick up some of the fees. I usually use Party to withdraw, as their EFTs are free, and they charge a very reasonable currency exchange. I bounce my money back and forth to and from sites with an eWallet, avoiding any fees, then deposit at Party when they have a bonus, and withdraw via EFT. As far as eWallets go, C2P makes us go with Canadian $, which is usally a bad thing. However, they actually charge NOTHING on currency exchange to and from sites. So a withdrawal from C2P should avoid currency issues. Still awaiting a couple of trip reports to see what their fees are like on their ATM card, this could be a good option for us. Otherwise, you're right, we'll still get hit with currency exchange fees with an eWallet. The key for anyone dealing with a native currency other than US $, I think, is not to withdraw from your bankroll unless you "mean it". IE I probably keep a little more money online than I would if I was American, because I don't want to redeposit if I can avoid it...otherwise I'm effectively paying to move the money in and out of my bank account. |

galmost: I haven't heard of any spyware on Prima, and neither has anyone else in the office. Is this something that you've personally encountered, or just heard about?
I'd recommend running some kind of spyware program pretty regularly on the computer you use for poker, as well as anti-virus stuff, etc. Spybot Search and Destroy is one; there are several other good ones. There are several good posts on 2+2 about how to properly protect your PC. If you happen to find anything suspicious in the Eurolinx software, I'd be interested in hearing about it, not to mention surprised. SparkMan: We also offer EcoCard for Canadians. They will likely be launching a debit card in May, which makes them an even more attractive option. We are looking into others such as Moneybookers and Click2Pay. We will send out a mail to all our players if we add another deposit or withdrawal option to the list. |

[ QUOTE ] Anyone who passes up an opportunity to speak directly to a rep is making a mistake, IMO. [/ QUOTE ] I was responding to this part and exaggerating for effect I guess. I just don't think it's such a big deal that it's somehow a mistake to pass up such an opportunity. Saying that Lydia is a nice person and really is who she claims to be is fine. Saying that it's pretty cool that they are soliciting opinions from American players and 2+2'ers is correct as well. Saying that passing up this opportunity is somehow a mistake just caught my attention though because I don't think it really is. But it's no biggie. [/ QUOTE ] Bob, I met up with Lydia on Thursday night... Important stuff first: She looks much better in person than her picture, and it was a fun time. There are certainly advantages to discussing the inner workings of a site with a site rep directly, and the direct contact is so much more worthwhile than an impersonal email exchange. If you are in one of the states Lydia is traveling thru, I would recommend contacting her. Executive Summary: Hot girl plays poker and wants to meet you... for a good time, PM her... The road trip is still ongoing. To read about where I've been so far, you can find a Blog at the Eurolinx website. I'm updating it pretty steadily now.
Still looking for games near Boston and Atlanta. I'm willing to drive up to 2 hours for a game or to meet up with a player. I've met a bunch of interesting people on this trip, and I wouldn't mind meeting a few more 2+2 members before I head back to Malta. I've been sending ideas back to Eurolinx much since I started on this trip, and we're always open to more. As always, I can be reached by PM if you have any questions or comments about anything. /Lydia |

I met Lydia too, Sniper.
She is very personable, quite intelligent, a good poker player, and we had a great conversation about internet poker and various related sub-topics. And although it seems out of place for someone 20 years older and happily married to say, yes, for you younger guys, she is quite attractive too . I cant play at her site until I ditch my old Mac for a new one, but when I do I will definitely give it a try. She is a good ambassador for both poker and eurolinx. And I believe she is back in Malta now, so all you folks who passed up the opportunity will have to wait for the next road trip or see her at the WSOP. Skallagrim |
