I think I've heard him featured on a couple songs/remixes, maybe heard a single by him. What album of his would you recommend? was he on the gta3 soundtrack or am i imagining that? |

[ QUOTE ] People listing Andre 3000 who do not even know who Big Boi is, haven't heard the track Player's Ball or of the album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik should not be taken seriously. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed. I grew up listening to Outkast (from Atlanta ftw), but if you think their first single was Ms. Jackson, please gtfo. Also, Slug and Aesop Rock lovers: I was once like you. I only listened to annoying nerd-rap and emo-rap. Then I found Illmatic (perhaps you've heard of this album? Unlikely, but possible) and never listened to another stupid lyric about laser beams or Minneapolis again. Don't get me wrong, there's still plenty of underground/indie/whatever you want to call it hip hop that I like (Sage francis, brother ali, mf doom, jedi mind tricks, oh no, etc.) but please take that weak Atmosphere/def jux sh** elsewhere. [/ QUOTE ] I don't like that stuff that much that I want to defend it so much, but I just had to comment on the fact that you still like Sage Francis but not Slug or Aesop Rock (who is not really emo at all). You know Sage Francis does poetry right? I'm starting to wonder if you've even listened to half the stuff you're talking about or if you're just spouting crap to make yourself seem like you know what you're talking about. But then you admit listening to Illmatic AFTER being into nerd-rap. Not that I can talk, but you gotta be like 15 and from an upper class neighbourhood right? |

I can't believe I'm the only person who put Slick Rick on the list. Damn I'm old!For the people questioning my selction of Kool Keith, he has been independent for years, usually puts out 2 albums per year(about 3X as much as the other rappers mentioned), doesn't follow trends, and Dr. Octagon was groundbreaking at the time it was released, why do you think Del(Deltron3030)bit it so hard. And I think more of sex than pot when I think of Kool Keith. Sex Style anyone???

Royce top 25..... WTF do I even say to that. Also Dr. Dre is not an MC and Andree 30000 is no where near top 5.
Others that could be considered 1. Melle Mel 2. Slick Rick 3. Ice Cube 4. Chuck D 5. Big Daddy Kane 6. Kool G Rap WTF is up with people that can not clearly see 2pac is #1. |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm 20 and was born and raised in metro Atlanta, my high school was in the hood and 70% black, etc. not exactly upper-class lol. I now live in Chinatown in NYC. Also, I've seen atmosphere live twice, one time with brother ali, I've seen nas live, and seen outkast, jedi mind, and probably some of the other mcs i named as well, so I'm pretty sure I'm not making all of this up, nice try though. |
