It not particularly good press for Pokerstars if this issue became big. The last thing they want a potential customer hearing is that one of Pokerstar's biggests names had their account hacked and money stolen. Alot of people are already apprehensive towards playing/depositing online and this definitely doesn't help matters.

I think it's kind of strange they won't tell you the name of the guy who hacked it.
What is the reasoning for not revealing it?

[/ QUOTE ]

Two reasons:

1) They probably promise not to reveal your personal information when you sign up.
2) They don't want to responsible for some guy losing an appendage.

Cause if you go beat the guy to the point of hospitalization, Stars might be liable for telling you his info IMO. I do agree they should give his name and info to other poker sites so he is barred everywhere.

Question-
Can one person play both HU positions from the same IP?
Wouldn't there have to be 2 people involved?

If it's really true that somebody just flat guessed Greg's password, then it more makes Greg looks bad than PS. It's not like their security software was hacked, it's like one of their highest profile players had an easily guessable password.

Yuv,

Reading this thread today is the first time I heard anything about your involvement. So, kind of hard to give you credit for being the first person to alert PS, or thank you for doing so.

But now that I know, thank you very much. I do appreciate the effort you put forth on my behalf.

Thanks, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)

lol how did he guess your password? you should tell us what the password was so we can laugh at you and you'll learn a lesson.

[/ QUOTE ]

My password wasn't 100% obvious, but it was pretty weak. If you were guessing, I would think it would take you at least 100 tries, on average, to guess it. More likely 500. But, if some bored punk out there was willing to guess 100, or 500, or however many times he tried, then it figures he would get to it eventually.

Laugh away.

Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)
