FWIW I found a lot of useful content in LeStat's posts unlike the haters' posts. It's sad (or very nice) to see that high stakes poker players cannot really understand how to apply Pokerstove results and the limitations of its use.

so u r gonna start cring in this situation?

edit: also, read the first posts of this thread. NOONE hated on lestat. rather, it was lestat that maintained that i "would go broke" "must be smoking something" etc etc.

when the evidence smacks him in the face, does he apologize? of course not, it was all a misunderstanding. see, lestat didnt really mean that we are ahead in this situation on average. only that we are ahead of certain hands, and, being the expert high stakes hu player that he is, he can "feel" when these specific situtations arise.

at least he was nice enough to wish me luck.

Except for the fact that A5s is a dog to the set of random hands on a Q 7 6 board. The fact that you are out of position makes it worse. It's not complicated at all. Ace high is extremely overrated by most inexperienced heads up players. When you make it to the river for other reasons, it's often correct to call with A high. However, building a large pot OOP with a hand where everyone folds worse hands and calls with better hands is not how to win at poker.

i think you are being too pessimistic and lestat is being too optimistic.

a check call/check fold line here can be profitable at the right times vs the right opponent.

i could go on but needless to say it is extremely opponent dependent.

on the FIRST hand in a HU match vs. a new opponent, this is going to SD for me alot of the time for many reasons.

I'm really puzzled by some of the discussion here. People are using the pokerstove results as an argument for auto-fold. Is pot odds a concept that's been completely forgotten.

Forgetting metagame considerations, forgetting this is HU, with all it's associated factors, let's look at this from a pure math perspective:

Assuming you know nothing about your opponent, and let's assume that you're willing to narrow his range a little based on pre-flop action to the degree that you're willing to say that your hand post-flop has only a 33% chance of winning. Well, given the 3 big bets already in the pot, you'd be getting slightly better than 2-1 return to simply call down.

" People are using the pokerstove results as an argument for auto-fold"

um, standard?

[/ QUOTE ]

My standard answer would be c/r flop. But I'm crazy like Bthat.

[/ QUOTE ]

i love players like u. get me off the hands u beat and let me put in more bets with my pairs that you are behind.

[/ QUOTE ]

This play Victor makes his flop c/r correct. If you fold anything else worse than a pair then you will be getting killed. His c/r needs to work 22% of times to break even. You are not going to have a pair of better 78% of times on the flop.

It's also worth noting that almost ANY hand has good odds to call his c-r, so anytime you fold you make a mistake and he profits

I'm not saying that the c-r 100% of times is correct or that you are such a bad player that will play weak tight against his c-r.

Victor I am really not the one to be in this thread since I rarely play HU and I tilt at play money, but I think nothing will fold the flop incorrectly against your hand. I also think that A8 and better will continue past the turn with you. Anything worse than your A5 either bluffs you off your hand or finds an FTOP-correct fold on the turn.
