[ QUOTE ]
Is 24/20 too LAGGY a style to be profitable at these stakes? I'm pretty solid postflop but maybe I should just tone it down a little? [/ QUOTE ] IMHO, no (though others might disagree). I play alot laggier than you (if i'm not 12 tabling), not to be crazy but to get as many hands in with the fish (or to steal/resteal from the tighties). Plus there is kind of an exponential thing that happens when I double up: I get to play deep stack poker against other deep stacks who generally have no clue how to adjust to the deep stack realm. So, if I sit at a table and there is a deep stack, and if he is a fish, I have an urgency to build my stack before he leaves the table. Anyways, here is a quote that I always liked (whether or not it is dangerous to apply to uNL) from a post by Samo (a laggy HSNL player): [ QUOTE ] - First of all, as cero pointed our in a recent post, playing more hands gives one that many more opportunities to win a fish's money. For the simple reason that I am playing many more hands than the average player, I am provided with many more opportunities to win large pots against players who will overplay their hands. Additionally, by playing hands like 8-6 or 5-2, I am MORE likely to hit a hand that will be both disguised and give a weak player a chance to have a top pair/overpair type hand that he will stack off with. Note that if you play tightly, you will not get these opportunities with AA, KK, AK, etc - since (a) the opponent in the hand will be mathematically less likely to hold an overpair or similar cards and (b) if you hit a hand hard, your opponent will be less likely to hold a TPTK type hand that he might stack off with. Otherwise stated, if I hold 8-6, my opponent will be more likely to stack off with AQ. [/ QUOTE ] |

Thanks for the post. I do like to play a LAGGY style but I can't help wondering why my WR is so low and why I swing so much. Do you see any holes in my stats or do I just need to be patient? I noticed my W$@SD is a little low...

nothing really sticks out as odd from your stats. though one thing i notice (and i don't know if it is standard), but your AF is 5 on the flop and then plummets on the turn and river. do you find yourself calling down the turn/river a decent amount of times with the worst hand?

No, but I generally don't flop very well. Regardless I cbet about 85% of the time, get called a lot and shutdown on the turn and the river.

one thing to possibly consider is the hands you are playing.
so, your 22 vpip might include different hands than i play (assume i'm also 22 vpip). whereas i'm 3betting, say, 54s from the bb, or raising with 85s from MP, you might be doing so with KJo or ATs, and finding yourself calling down turn river, with dominated hands or not getting someone's stack because your hands are too face up. i'm not saying that's the case, but it's something to check out next time u play. edit: ok, i just read your thread where you raise with 56s, call flop raise and then push opponent's pot-sized turn bet with your draw. that's a leak in my opinion. the flop can be played more aggro, but the real problem is the turn. when he bets pot, you know he's not folding to your push. i didn't do the math but i don't you have odds to take the line you did. also, i check behind on that flop sometimes because i know that's the kind of flop that is going to lead to my cbet getting check raised. now, a Ks7h8s flop i would c-bet because people fold to a one broadway (esp. a king) flop a lot. |

Poker sucks. These are my all time NL50-stats. Any obvious mistakes? [/ QUOTE ] Just noticed no one has answered this. Just a few words, and some of this goes out to a few other people here, too. Limp less (preferably never), raise more often. Cold-calling is okay, but be absolutely sure you can get value out of the hands you're doing that with. Keep in mind, you're trying to win more pots than the cards in your hands "technically" allow you to. To do this, you must get better hands, or hands with better "future prospects" to fold. You can achieve this by c-betting hard, choosing the right spots to do so, and finally, by adding plenty of FE. Look at your W$WSF (won $ when saw flop), that value is a bit low. Sure, this could be variance, but more likely it's a lack of fold equity that goes so well with c-betting. You can even see the difference between your three 50NL levels. In one, you were playing 23/13.5 (raising ~60% of hands you enter with) having 36.2 W$WSF, in another case, you were running at 21.5/15 (raising ~70%) and your W$WSF at 39% is in a better shape already. Last but not least, there's the line with only 3k hands, so I'd take the numbers with a pound of salt, but the trend seems to be the same. Your other stats look alright to me. With a wee bit of extra fold equity you should be able to improve your results. The next step after that would be to see which big pots you've been handling badly, and try to learn your lessons from that. Whether you've won or lost the pot doesn't matter, only the size. The end. |

For the last 17K hands (since my start on Full Tilt) I play a 21/15 game. My W$WSF is about 38.5 there.
I think the drop in aggression between flop (I c/b a lot) and the turn is too big. Or are these numbers normal? Here is the tab for my position stats (I left out the Full Ring hands that somehow got in there):

Still learning the online game. I'll take any and all critquing. I think I'm playing a solid LAG...it suits me, fwiw, but always looking to improve. Oh also...notice my AF is "backwards"? I'm trying to induce more bluffs on the river lately, but still learning to do that more...other ideas? [/ QUOTE ] I'd love some feedback, fellas. |
