I was joking.

But, on a more serious note, is there anything wrong with this guy? Considering Oakland has almost no offense whatsoever, is he a "bad" #1 pick?

[/ QUOTE ]

It's generally not that great to pick a WR #1(QB's and Tackles are more valuable), but he's probably the best WR prospect in years.

I think he pretty clearly is the best WR prospoect in years, and I guess of the other top picks only J Thomas has that sort of "can't miss" thing going for him. That said, assuming Oakland isn't going Thomas, you pick Johnson over Russell?

Random tidbits from various sources:

Calvin Johnson deciding to run at the last minute and posting a 4.35 in somebody elses shoes is just sick. Most players take some heat for not working out. Apparently Johnson decided not to work out because he thought it would decrease the amount of scouts at his pro day that would get to see his teammates workout.

Miami TE Greg Olsen ran a 4.45 40 and looked solid in other drills which should push him ahead of Zach Miller as the consensus #1 TE.

Washington St WR Jason Hill ran a 4.32 40. I like him a lot and think he deserves to be lumped together with Dwayne Bowe, Robert Meachem and Sydney Rice as late 1st early 2nd round picks.

Arkansas OT Tony Ugoh had some sort of leg injury early Saturday but still participated in the broad jump were he recorded 9' 9". As comparison, Doug Free had the next best broad jump by an O-Lineman at 9' 3". The best O-Lineman in 2006 was Daryn Colledge at 9' 1".

Adrian Peterson, Oklahoma; Antonio Pittman, Ohio State & Chris Henry, Arizona; had the best 40 times for RB's at 4.40. Henry's time opened some eyes as he is a big back (6' 230)

QB Trent Edwards Stanford particpated in all of the drills Sunday despite spending all day Saturday in bed with the flu. Edwards is in the discussion with Drew Stanton, John Beck, Troy Smith & Kevin Kolb as the #3 QB.

Gerogia Tech QB Reggie Ball is working out as a WR and ran a 4.8 40 which will not cut it in the NFL.

Answering and earlier question, Troy Smith measured 6' even.

D-Line & LB's workout tommorrow. I can't wait to see Purdue DE Anthony Spencer run. He's been flying up draft boards after a great Senior Bowl week. It's believed Spencer will run a sub 4.5 40.

Yeah, you should definitely rub it in now that Johnson is getting his bust for canton ready. I mean, nothing ends the debate like like a good 40 time.

The announcers said that Jarret might have run a 4.75 40 at another camp recently. If that's the truth, then things don't look good for him.

Bo Jackson was clocked at 4.12 in the 40 at the 1986 combine.

Bo would have been the greatest RB of all time if he had concentrated on football and hadn't broken his hip.
