Anyone depraved enough to torture and kill irrationally for amusement deserves to have their capacity diminished for myriad reasons.

Curiously enough, if there were still no repercussions for me, personally, and I failed to halt the incident before the cat was killed, I would generally have very little compunction about executing the offenders on the spot for the greater good of humanity.

I wouldn't give a flying **** about the future utility of those wastes of space torturing a cat to death... Perhaps it would be more practical/humane to execute them and release the cat?
