I finally watched City of God last night after about a year of saying I was going to. I can't believe I waited this long, it is easily one my top 5 favorite movies of all time.

[/ QUOTE ]

I keep telling myself I'm gonna watch this (probably for longer than a year now) but some reason I never do. This and Oldboy are at the top of my must-see list right now.

[/ QUOTE ]

Those really are a couple of must-sees. When you get around to seeing City of God, do yourself a favor and watch the documentary that comes with it (every disc I've seen has it). It is also very good.

I watched 'Unfaithful' last week - a soft-porn pic made by the director of 9 1/2 weeks with Richard Gere and Diane Lane. It was okay but not great for the first half, but took some interesting plot twists in the second half that made it watchable and more engaging. I did get the urge to watch 9 1/2 weeks after watching it tho.

I remember that film. It made me extremely uncomfortable. I actually thought it was a pretty good film. Nail-biter! And that one scene with the snow globe...wow.

I really like Diane Lane a lot.

She was better in Streets of Fire. And Judge Dredd.

I just checked out the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and was surprised to see it had a very high consensous rating (86% fresh). I don't think it should rate that high and it sort of makes me wonder if there is a better web site around for consensous reviews (other than The Lounge on 2+2 )

Actually she wasn't that good in Streets of Fire. I just like the movie, is all.

I watched Down By Law the other day, and enjoyed the hell out of it. I'm a huge Tom Waits guy, so seeing him on screen for 1.5 hours was prety great. Benigni was hysterical, Lurie wad solid, and the cinematography was beautiful, filled with picturesque B&W shots that captured New Orleans.

Bookmarked and Linked. Thanks!

PS I wrote some notes for an OP on film critics consensous sites in general, I'll add this and perhaps post it when I polish it up and get some time.
