Skrew it. And its not a close decision. Its his responsibility to either a) read his frekain hand correctly or b) turn his hand face up on the table and let the dealer do it for him. Neither of these things is hard to do. This is part of playing poker.

buy him a beer

[/ QUOTE ]

You owe him nothing (especially since you didn't see his hand)

But if you must...Pay the tip for his FREE beer
And stalk the guy who was talking non-stop after the hand and beat his face in for being a retard who doesn't know how to conduct himself at a casino.

You know, honestly, while you might be ethically "correct" in keeping the pot b/c the other guy is not very bright and can't read his own [censored] hand, given that there's more to life than the thousand bucks you get out of this deal I'd probably just make the side deal with him and chop the pot and give him half. Can you justify yourself over and over in keeping the pot? - yeah, totally. Is is really worth the nagging doubt in your mind asking you whether the price of your integrity is worth exactly the size of that pot? - No, in your case it's not. [censored] it, give him half and move on, the amount of money involved is not anywhere near worth your peace of mind here.

While in theory this sounds like an ideal solution in the case in point the guy speaks no English, which makes this solution impractical. See Tommy Angelo, and no offense to Kirk intended.

If he doesn't table his hand he forfeits his right to a showdown, you win.

The man is an angel. Give $1000 or whatever it was to your favorite charity. It was meant to be.
