I still remember how sad my dad was the day Bob Marley died.
For me, I don;t really remember the day John Lennon was killed, but it still bothers me today. |

Funny how I was sad when John Belushi died, but I wish for Jim Belushi to be eaten by ants daily.
Also, I am still sad that Jerry Mathers (the Beaver) died in Vietnam eating pop rocks and drinking Coca-Cola. I miss that guy. LLL |

Feel free to laugh but I was saddened by the death of Mr. Rogers. It may be cool to make fun of his incurable lack of hipness but he was a genuinely caring person who did a lot of good in the world. [/ QUOTE ] I feel the same way about Mr. Dressup (kind of a Canadian Mr. Rogers). After he died, they left his show on the air for a couple of years. I watched it a few times with my son, and he liked it just as much as I used to. Can you imagine having a job where your make tens of thousands of kids happy each day? My job is so trivial. |

Jim Henson was the one that got me. Pretty much everything I watched as a kid was created by him.

Although this ended up being a case of someone who did not die, Magic Johnson's HIV+ announcement in 1991 was akin to a death sentence at the time in the eyes of most of the public. He was forced to retire just a few months after taking the Lakers to the Finals and was clearly the most recognizable figure to that point to catch it (and arguably still is). As a fan of the NBA, it made me as sad as anyone who died, since it seemed like a matter of time before he was gone. And here we are 15+ years later and he looks as good as ever. Still sucks as a commentator though. [/ QUOTE ] ditto... when I was growing up... my parents went through a couple REALLY ugly break-ups and make-ups. the only fun I had for about 5 years of my childhood was those 2 hour blocks where I could watch basketball with my dad and my mom would leave us both alone. For some reason even she understood the sanctity of the Lake-Show. when Magic announced he had aids I cried at school. Still chokes me up to this day. |

Among others mentioned...
He was one of my favorite players...even though I'm a Giants fan, DT got me to watch the Chiefs more and more. After he died, I stopped watching the Chiefs. ScottieK |

ScottieK [/ QUOTE ] I was living in Kansas in the army when this happen... i wasn't a huge fan, but the whole region was really upset. I remember seeing decals and bumper stickers for a couple years saying RIP 58. My girlfriend at the time was working at the hospital where he died and she said it was a total fluke. |
