I am 32 years old. I previously owned a pool hall for 5 years. My roll online is @8K, that I made from grindin. I have played atleast 1 million hands of limit. I ran at 2.5BB/100 multitabling 1-2 through 3-6 at Poker Room. I swithched to SNGs last December. I've played 6000 Sng's with lifetime ROI of 13%. The last 4 months at Party my ROI was 27% over 2800 sngs. My poker book collection is well over 35 books. The best ones are completely worn out with broken binding. I own every software program that will help improve play and I use them religiously. I am currently studying NL cash. In the last week I have watched every Green Plastic and most of Muddywater's Videos on Cardrunners. Somewhere around 50 videos or so in total, and I have over 30 pages of notes. In the last 2 weeks, I have been playing or studying NL 15 hours a day. I am a complete learning maniac with a drive that is unreal. I graduated middle school with a 4.0 GPA, High school 3.55. Im going to make a couple million dollars playing poker, might as well have already happened. A teacher would be nice, but either way I ain't going nowhere. See you at the top. JROK

Hey...no, didn't offend me...just sounded like you were trying to call me out. I have enough people in the real world who don't believe I play online poker for a living, so I'm prob a bit testy on the subject.

I'd love to keep more in my bankroll, but I gotta live.

Age: 19, sophomore at Gtown University

Experience: cliff notes at bottom
I won a $5 MTT my senior year of high school for ~$1200 but I basically cashed all of that out and stopped playing poker before going to college. Once I got to college, I had like $100 left on my RVP account (from the free $10) and made a few hundred. I opened up a Stars account, played some sngos, then entered a $12 double shootout to the $650 PCA qualifier on a whim and won. I unregistered from that and won a $175 double shootout to the actual event on my second try. I then somehow cashed in the event for 12k, but I've set aside all of that money for college loans and expenses. After the PCA, I went back to playing $6-$27 sngos as well as some $11-22 speeds and Mini-Steps on Party. I had some success, and after a lesson from AlwaysAir, I took a shot at NL200. I didn't play for long, and after losing several buy-ins over a few thousand hands, I decided that NL200 wasn't right for me at the time. I moved down to NL50-100, but found that my hourly was higher playing low-limit sngos. Right now I'm 9-tabling the 6s-15s with a 26.9% ROI in the 6s (~500 games since I started keeping track) and a 17% ROI in the 16s (~200 games since I started keeping track). I'm also looking to move to NL50-100, as there isn't a lot of room for advancement playing sngos.

Cliff notes- won a $5 mtt, stopped playing, cashed in a WPT event, mostly low-limit sngos with some bigger ones mixed in, failed shot at NL200, mostly low-limit sngos with some NL25-100 mixed in

Tables: 9 for sure, and more if I get another monitor.

Bankroll: It's actually pretty flexible. I consider my bankroll now to be ~1k, though I am able to deposit more if necessary.

Expectations: As a lifetime low-limit player with a WPT cash, I'm hoping to fully realize my potential as a poker player. I feel like I am capable of beating much bigger games than I currently play (I didn't feel particularly outclassed at WPT and I felt assuredly +EV in mini-step 5s) and am looking forward to the day when I can really consider myself a successful poker player. Also, though I love poker and think about it a ton, having a coach gives that extra motivation and interest to 1) play a lot of hands and 2) discuss and think about poker in new ways.

The trust issue: I haven't become a regular member here until very recently, so I understand if trust is a problem. I met a bunch of 2+2ers at the PCA including stevepa, traheho, and Deuce2High, but I wouldn't expect them to vouch for me, as I basically don't know them at all. I've also exchanged PMs with irieguy when I was playing my double shootouts, but again, I don't really know him. If this is a problem, I am willing to put up all the money so you don't have to transfer anything (and/or whatever else I need to do).

Thanks for the opportunity, and I look forward to seeing whoever gets this killing NL600 in a month or two

I've enjoyed reading your progress from here to the nl boards and think this is a great idea. I'm always amazed by some of the stories of a lot of the young players, and enjoy, surprisingly to me, it without any envy except the desire to improve my game.

While I'm not in a situation where I need a br, I'd still like to be considered for this and would play it the way you have set it up.

I've been playing cards seriously for 2 years. I started in MTTs, switched to STTs then LHE and then back to STTs and now SSNL 6m. In STTs I went from the 11s to the 55s on party and quit playing them in July for good when Party messed up the software and you couldn't get on anything below a 109. On the second day of that I started playing FR and did that for about 6-7 weeks with a nice winrate. I ran even for about a month and switched to 6m in Sept full time. I've played mostly 50nl since october with about 7k hands of 100nl. Before party closed I was playing 100 and a little 200nl on there. Since the end of PP I've played almost 90% of my hands at 50nl the rest at 100nl.

Additional experience is in MTTS, I've FT'ed in various buyins and played in the WSOP last summer.

6-8 tables no issues.

Current Br = enough for 400nl

What I expect out of this arrangement. I have a very strong understanding of NL 6m play, with one exception, there is some aspect of the game which I haven't grasped yet, I'm not sure what it is, and it has basically turned me into a 30k hand breakeven stretch for me. Which has been very frustrating. One additional (or maybe its THE issue) is the application of aggression, firing 2d barrels etc. I don't seem to have issues with af on 100nl, but perhaps due to the lack of fe on 50nl, its an area I need to learn how to apply that aspect of my game to step to the next level. (Maybe you could just sweat me for an hour and be done with me, lol).

anyway, thats it, I'd likely be the best candidate if ur looking for the ez way out, but would nontheless benefit from this greatly. Probably the most important thing I can add, is that gaining the knowledge to be 1/2 as successful as you've been would be almost life changing at this point of where I am in my life.

Past, ordinarily I would jump at this offer, as I am currently mixing in 6-max SSNL cash games along with the SNGs that I play and I have long been looking for a favorable staking/coaching arrangement. However, considering our history and that your arrangement doesn't seem too appealing, this wouldn't work for me (not that you asked). I will say, though, that the students that you do take on will benefit (hopefully emmensely from your staking and tutelage) and I enjoyed reading your story. Good luck and much success to you in the future.

Age: 19

Experience: 1.5 years. I started during the beginning of my senior year in high school and now I'm a freshman in college. I started with my friends playing $5 games, and then we started playing online. I played PokerStars first, the $5 sit n gos, then I tried Full Tilt. I didn't like the tournament structure much with the blinds constantly increasing and if you get bad beat once, you are eliminated. So I switched to cash games. I played the NL 10 for a while, losing most of the time, but then I found books at Borders and started reading. I read a ton of books, especially Dan Harrington's 3 volume books which I liked a lot (even though they are for tournaments). I also like Skalansky's newest book, Theory and Practice. So after tons or reading and playing NL 10, I began winning and I moved up limits. First NL 25, then NL 50. I built a pretty good roll playing NL 50 (about 1k) but lost a lot when I moved up to NL 100. I also played live at Turning Stone $1/2 blinds, but I ended up losing $500 to quite a few bad beats. I was playing very solid there but my overpairs got busted four times when I got it all in preflop. Because of this, I lost a lot of my bankroll. So now, I'm back to grinding NL 50. I am currently averaging 7.33BB/100 hands over 10k hands. I would very much like to move up to NL 100 and start winning at those stakes.

Most tables you can see yourself playing: 6. That's the number of tables I usually play grinding NL 50.

Current Bankroll: ~$800

What you expect to get out of this arrangement: I want to become a better poker player of course, but I would also like to be able to actually have the confidence to play NL 100. I have played NL 100 before, and ended up losing most of my bankroll , so I am very intimidated of moving up limits. With a coach that would help me analyze difficult situations, it would make the transition a much easier and smoother task. I often watch people play the higher stakes at Full Tilt Poker and wonder what they are thinking and how they handle difficult situations, but with a coach, I don't have to wonder anymore; I can actually have the coach explain to me what kind of hands that the players have and what moves the players are capable of making. I would very much love to have a coach direct me in my pursuit of becoming a good poker player.

Started playing poker about 1.5 years ago and to be honest don't have much to show for it. Made a couple bucks here and there but mainly from taking advantage of bonuses and stuff, plus a few things outside of poker that have been eating up my roll.

Got a modest poker library of about 8 books. Tried all forms of poker, being most successful in PLO but the swings were driving me insane. LHE I feel takes a certain type of person to play and enjoy it, one of which i'm not. NL hasn't been my strongest game but I have enough knowledge I feel to hold my own at 50NL and 100NL. I cant really give figures as I only got PT recently.

I'm actually interested in getting into MTT's with NL to supplement my other poker time.

I think my progress as a poker player has been affected a lot by the fact that I have no real life contact whatsoever with another poker player, as I live in South Africa. Hopefully that will change when I immigrate to the states in a few months when my visa arrives.

So basically I have 3/4 months that I can dedicate solely to poker while I wait for my visa. I know i'm not the ideal candidate that you are originally looking for, but If you feel like a tougher challenge which I think I will most probably be, with no risk at all to you, I would really appreciate it if you could help me with some direction. (I have a 4k ish roll so you don't need to put in any funds of your own)

I'm willing to give you all my winnings from NL for the next 50k hands (not including my FPP's accrued during this period) and if by this time I feel like I still need more intensive coaching and you are willing to carry on, I will continue to give you 100% of my winnings until we end our coaching contract. Also, 6 tables shouldnt be a problem.

I've read near everything that can be read (here or in books) but I just need someone more experienced to guide me and help me apply what I've already read.

Becoming a better poker player is very important to me and I don't think that I'm where I should be after 1.5 years playing poker. If i'm too big of a project for you at this stage in your coaching career I totally understand, but there's no way I could pay $100 an hour upfront to another coach with my current roll.

Thanks for taking the time to read this

BB

Pasterbator,
I suggest you make a new thread where you offer someone to read through this thread and choose who you will coach.
