[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] we should all just stop entertaining desertcat's trolls about field goal percentage being the end all of basketball. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, it's hardly a good stand-alone stat. Especially if the guy is good at getting to the line and making FTs like Iverson. However, a terrible FG% with no FTAs and lots of FGA is usually a strong signal of a player hurting his team on offense. [/ QUOTE ] Flip Murray comes to mind. |

tl;dr
But Denver now has 2 of the top 10 players in the league. That's enough to make a lot of noise. |

However, a terrible FG% with no FTAs and lots of FGA is usually a strong signal of a player hurting his team on offense. [/ QUOTE ] I wasjust about to post this. Through the first 15 games this year Iverson is averaging the most FT/game of his career at 11.6. His last three seasons are #1 2 and 3 for his career at 05-06 at 11.5 and 04-05 at 10.5. He's also shooting well above his career FT% in those three years, and has put up three out of his top four assists/game totals in those three years. |

[ QUOTE ]
It's Dallas's and Denver's picks, so probably not great players as they will be in the 20s. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, but this year's class could be STACKED. If Philly does this right, they could be in a very good place in 3 years. |

[ QUOTE ]
Sure, it would match up nicely with Ben Wallace, PJ Brown, and Tyrus Thomas, or Rasheed Wallace and Nazr Mohammed, but remember they play out West with the big boys. [/ QUOTE ] Good thing I didn't say their front court is great. It has depth and hustle guys who can rebound [ QUOTE ] Camby is a good shotblocker, but his 1on1 post defense is average at best at this point. [/ QUOTE ] Why are you repeating my post? "Nene just has to play better one on one D (Kmart's injuries have hurt them here) so Camby can play off the ball." [ QUOTE ] Also, not sure if you have seen Nene recently, but he's looking like Tractor Traylor. [/ QUOTE ] Not sure if you watch Nuggets games, but he missed 12 games with a knee contusion as he tries to come back from his knee reconstruction. Of course he is out of game shape, he is coming off a knee injury and just returned after missing a month this year. Note that is why I said he has to be healthy and play better one on one defense. [ QUOTE ] I like Najera, but is he supposed to match up with Carlos Boozer or Shawn Marion? [/ QUOTE ] They look at it more as having 18 fouls and three bodies off the bench (Kleiza, Evans and Najera). Obviously they are at a disadvantage but they do have defensive depth and the ability to play guys who are offensive liabilites. [ QUOTE ] I just don't see how a horrible defensive team with a below average frontcourt can expect to compete, even if they have two top five scorers. [/ QUOTE ] I agree D is a huge issue, but trading Dre improves that and the increased offensive potential helps too. The big question is Nene's health and development. If he improves and stays healthy they have a shot. They are clearly looking up at 3-5 teams but are also a whole lot better too. |

JR,
I agree with everything you say. However, I think that all adds up to a first round exit in the playoffs. We shall see. |

KC, it is pretty silly. I did find the # of shots attempted and the winning % associated with it to be interesting to say the least.
I would also like to say that I enjoy seeing conventional wisdom actually proved to be conventional. |

I think this is good, b/c of Evans & Camby. They're solid rebounders, who are gonna thrive off Iverson's misses. Philly hasn't had those type of guys since their Finals run. They should just cancel the Eastern playoffs, the West is loaded.

Didn't read all the threads, but no real contender can start a 5'5 SG as a point guard. This trade really requiers a follow up trade for some sort of a pass first PG. You have too many triger happy players on the same backcourt (AI+JR+Melo+Boykins).
Obviously Iverson for cap room is a good trade for a team looking for a title, but they need to stay busy and shop around (Brevin Knight would be a perfect fit there). |
