Uh, inflation isn't so rampant since Clinton that the dramatic slopes of the flat numbers are meaningless. But, as you wish (national debt as % of GDP, by President):

So called "fiscal conservatives" starting with Reagan, even those heralded as success stories, were never truly fiscally conservative.

[/ QUOTE ]

You just changed the statistic you were measuring!!!!

He was conservative in the modern sense of the word: cut social welfare programs (things that are actually useful) and spends tons on the military that doesn't do much except scare Gorbachev.

[/ QUOTE ]

You might have a different opinion if you were an East German.

I couldn't find budget deficit as % of GDP graph. But don't avoid the obvious by nitpicking, you're smarter than that. Disregard the first graph if you'd like. Look at the above graph, notably the slope, and tell me he has not been running large budget deficits (%s) that mirror the record Reagan/Bush days. Waiting.

They're actually very clearly going up slower than the Reagan/Bush days, unlike the first chart, which implied they were worse. Mind you, this is like saying lethal injection is better than electrocution. :P

The government over the last 6 years seems bigger than it ever has been in my short life.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sorry about that. I was able to help elect many Republicans but no conservatives. I'm unsure how to change this.

[/ QUOTE ]

Vote Libertarian. Or vote Constitution if you really want conservatives. :P

[/ QUOTE ]

...or don't vote. Same difference.

No, I'll continue to vote for the only viable non-Democrat alternative.

[/ QUOTE ]

Which has the same effect as not voting.

Yeah, I think he has a book of checks that say "President" on top and he can write them for whatever.

World: WTF 9/11?
Liberal: "Bush"

Nature: Katrina
Liberal: "Bush"

America: WTF gas prices?
Liberal: "Bush"

Liberal: "Iraq has WMDs"
Bush: "I know, I think I'll do something about it."
Liberal: "Bush lied"

Nature: Global warming?
Nature: uh..."The Sun"....http://www.nationalcenter.org/NPA203.html
Liberal: No..."Bush"

Anyone: My baby's sick, I'm constipated, my wife cheated...
Liberal: "Bush"

America: Strong economy
Liberal:...(crickets chirping)...

UN: Oil for food/ sexual harassment
Liberal:...(crickets chirping)...

[/ QUOTE ]
Are peoiple still trotting out this tired talking point? You know, that liberals just have this mysterious, irrational, unfounded hatred of Bush and therefore blame everything bad on him and oppose him no matter what?

I particularly love this "example":

Liberal: "Iraq has WMDs"
Bush: "I know, I think I'll do something about it."
Liberal: "Bush lied"

Ah yes, I remember those halcyon days in the run-up to the invasion and occupation of Iraq when we liberals united in our call for Bush to do something about the pending threat of Iraqi WMDs.

Since I value social conservatism much more than fiscal, anybody but Democrats suits me just fine.
