Capone,

Alex Smith had 1 TD and 11 Ints last year. How long do you think a team will put up with performance like that?

It's not unprecedented for a high first round pick to bomb and be gone in a matter of two years. Ryan Leaf played in a total of 25 games.

You might want to check Smith's numbers this year.

Cielo,

Stop hating. Alex Smith is turning into a pretty decent quarterback, and continues to improve rapidly. He will not bomb out of the NFL.

Wtf? I already said he's shown a lot of improvement and bought himself more time. Somebody's trying to tell me he was never in danger.

#1 Picks especially ones on decimated teams have more than 3 years to prove themselves. Especially when you don't have any effective backups. It's not like we have Tony Romo or someone similar sitting in the wings. We have Dilfer, last year we had Rattay and Dorsey. I think the 9er Organization had some patience.

Alex Smith needs love. The guy's only 22 and he's already an average QB. What looked like a huge bust last year is looking promising.

[ QUOTE ]
People saying VY look at Michael Vick right now now remember that Vick was a stronger arm the VY.

People saying Vick makes your team money, winning makes your team more money than selling jerseys. What percent of the Falcons net income is made up of Vick's jersey sales?

I picked Leinart for both, but I'm not particularlly crazy about the picks.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah Vick has a strong arm and Young has a weird throwing motion, but Vick's biggest drawbacks are decision making, accuracy, and possibly team chemistry.

Sometimes the best decision is to tuck and take the sack or throw it away, but Vick tries too many times to make plays out of nothing.

Vince Young is really good at pretending to throw the ball
