I had respect for you then, and I still do.

Ditto. Lots of respect for you and your game. You carry yourself well.

I hope that I've built up enough street cred not to be dismissed outright because of my age . . .

[/ QUOTE ]

Not by a longshot.

. . . and I hope that many of you don't change your opinion of me because of my age.

You are nothing to me now.

Might as well come out of the closet now (not in a BigSteve way, though). I'm a freshman in college now.

[/ QUOTE ]

...doesn't this make you a full twelve months younger than the average age around here? FWIW, I generally assume everyone here is ~freshman in college until told otherwise.

A year ago I had just started playing online. May 2004 was my initial deposit of $50. By August I had worked it up to $500 or so. I busted up a few low buy-in MTT"s and worked my way up through the limits. After 120,000+ hands at 5/10 and 10/20 full and 200k hands of limit playing semi-full time I have taken a break from limit and gone back to busting up MTT's. 4 tabling makes your eyes and brain bug out. Limit treated me well and I cashed a good amount of playing money into my personal expenses during this period. I made a deal with my wife to take $1200 out of my bankroll every week. This is a tough balance to achieve.

Recenetly I had a few big wins and got the MTT bug again. I am waiting to knock out one of the big weekday supers or a 200k/350k guaranteed. Soon the playing bankroll will be close to 8k and I will start buying in directly instead of playing satellites. So far off the initial $50 I am up about 28k. Mainly thanks to this website, good bankroll management, and some books.

I pop in on the 2+2 tables sometimes and I still play 1/2 6-max when I am drunk.

Shadow, I knew you were a lot younger than I, but you always had a ton of cred with me. You and Clayton have proven yourselves to be mature, clear thinking young men who write well and express your thoughts clearly. I am surprised that someone as involved in calculus as you are would be going to a lib arts school. That would please the math profs there greatly.

Good luck in school, although you'll probably make your own luck there. And be sure to have fun too. That coming from someone 3x your age.

Hey,

Congratulations on college, it's a fun time. I also went to a top 10 liberal arts college, way too long ago.

Right now, I'm bascially studying (not enough though), working on my pool game in the student union, getting drunk, and hitting on ugly chicks whilst intoxicated.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sounds about right. Things haven't changed that much, I guess.

From a guy on the high end of the age scale here, I don't think there's really that much correlation between age and quality of posts on this particular board. Hope you're more on a playing sabbatical, and not a posting one.

They also play 15k+ hands/month. I'm lucky to get in 10k.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's also a lot easier to log 15k hands in a month when you're 4-tabling 6max, as that's about 350 hands per hour.

Rob

I'm sure the possibility of making $50+ an hour makes it easier still.

A year ago I didn't know anything about online poker or even that there was such a thing as "Limit Hold'em"

I started playing poker seriously spring quarter of this year.

I just built my roll big enough to play 10/20 6m with a nice cushion. I'm movin on up Gonna give it a shot and hopefully not lose every penny I own.
