Dom, nice list. I'm sure you are aware that there a number of songs that could have made the top 100 but didn't. But the omission of The Monroes "What Do All the People Know" is most egregious to the point of heresy.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have no clue what this song is, sorry.

[/ QUOTE ]

Then you're not qualified to post this list.

Marillion - Kayleigh (I think it had more airplay in Europe) - I'm pretty sure it was in the 80's - great song

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes. Well done.

R.E.M. - "The One I Love"
The Fixx - "One Thing Leads To Another"

The One I Love is in the 80s??

1987. Other REM's you could have chosen:

Radio Free Europe (1983)
It's the End of the World As We Know It (1987)
Stand (1988)
Pop Song 89 (1988)
Orange Crush (1988)
Fall On Me (1986)

I think "The One I Love" was their highest charting of the '80s, though. Their biggest hit was "Losing My Religion" in 1991.

[/ QUOTE ]

okay, I forgot REM and New Order/Joy Division

no orchestral manouvres in the dark and no new order = a terrible, terrible list.

personally i would go with electricity and age of consent but other choices are defensible.

[/ QUOTE ]

blow me, Gomer. Make your own list if you don't like it. this one's MINE.

Toto/Rosanna

The correct answer is "Africa". We also would have accepted "Hold the Line".

No Fleetwood Mac (didn't see it on list) bums me out.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hold The Line is from the 70s...a few 80s Fleetwood Mac songs got cut near the end, including Hold Me, but really, they're greatness belongs to the 70s

yea i did a quick scan for R.E.M. and the Replacements and when I didn't see them I stopped reading... and then like 6 other people mentioned acts that should be on here or aren't. I'll throw in the Smiths and Husker Du as noticably absent as well.

[/ QUOTE ]

as I told the others...make your own list if you don't like it and stop crying about mine!

Jim Carroll Band/People Who Died

Excellent choice.

I agree with about 70%, and disagree with about 30%

Van Halen - Running with The Devil
Belinda Carlisle - Blue Heaven
Toto - Hold the Line

A few others I thing I would have gone with another choice.

One that sticks out for me that you missed is

Marillion - Kayleigh (I think it had more airplay in Europe) - I'm pretty sure it was in the 80's - great song

Oops - Running with the Devil - 70's

[/ QUOTE ]

so is Hold The Line.
