about 3 weeks ago, everything i studied came togather on a table with mostly lpp's and one certified pshyco. i was able to position myself2 seats to the left of the maniac, and the other players were fine with letting me isolate him. i doubled what i had in about 4 hours.

if i honestly take responsibility for my losses and not blame it all on bad luck, why isnt it the same for winning?

[/ QUOTE ]
am I missing something? 'everything came together', '4 hours', 'doubled up', 'not blame it all on bad luck, why isn't it the same for winning'.......

i think what dave and eagle were trying to tell me is that luck was the major factor in my winning session, and poor play and ignorance was the major factor when i busted. thier probably right.

I think that what I was trying to say was that you got lucky and won 100BBs one night. Then you got unlucky and lost 100BBs another night. Twice. Plain and simple. Oh, and since you were underbankrolled, you're out of poker money now.

Most likely Dave is done talking to you directly and instead trying to use this thread as an opportunity to point out stuff to the forum members who are actually open minded enough to learn new stuff. Dave's approach is better than mine.

I was being sarcastic in my post and agree with everything that dave is saying. basically, it's important to understand that good sessions and bad sessions have almost an equal amount of luck involved. the important thing though, is that if you just focus on playing good than this will manifest itself with good luck winning you more bets than bad luck is losing you. maybe, a bad analogy, but hopefully gets the point across.

for whatever its worth, i also agree with everything dave and eagle said. i find it a little disheartening that luck plays much more of a factor than skill.

Hmm. Granted, I'm new here, but it seems to me that fuzz has long been a fairly open and self-analyzing person in this thread, and people are going with the first "arrogant and ignorant" impression far too long. Maybe he's not a great player, and maybe his presentation could use work, but he's made it fairly clear that he's aware he has a lot of work to do and appreciates all everyone has to say.

Or maybe I'm misreading and people aren't being as snarky as it seems.

Meh. I'll be honest there's an attitude that comes through in this thread from Fuzz that just drives me crazy. Maybe I'm just picking up a vibe that isn't there, but I just get the impression that OP is one of those people who can't actually go out and improve himself (in poker).

These posts reek of "Tell me how to get good" and "Make me feel good about poker" but I don't get the impression that he actually is willing to put the work in thats needed to get better. A bunch of his replies are just "thanks, I'll do that" but I don't see any evidence of critical thinking or actual effort. His quoting of poker books shows that he doesn't really understand what they're saying because he hasn't thought about what he's reading. I can read a pulp fiction novel in a couple of hours at a rate of a 70-80 pages an hour, but it takes me a long time to get through a 300 page poker book because I constantly have to stop and think through examples/situations. It takes effort.

Granted posting here is a good first start. Like I said I'm probably reading way too much into his posts, and I apologize for being a jackass for no reason. Maybe I just need a beer.
