[ QUOTE ] I was an A level outdoor doubles USVBA (volleyball) player. [/ QUOTE ] What type of league is this and how competative are they? [/ QUOTE ] Levels are generally, B, BB, A, AA, Open. Though many tournaments only have B, A, and Open otherwise the pools are too small. How competitive? Hard to say. Not nearly as much as in California, I'm sure. Most A players are good atheletes. Trim, can jump, hit the ball hard, etc. I'm not sure what frame of reference I could use that would make sense. B level players would be the better players at drop in volleyball. Often B level players were either fat or had been A players that age caught up with, but were players that knew the game. Occasionally you'd get a good athelete that didn't know volleyball well and their inconsistency lands them in B. A level players know position on court, use blocking signs/signals, can play the whole court, jump serve, etc. A players almost never play drop in, the level just isn't good enough to be interesting. Or if they did, all of them go to the same drop in place so the competition is decent and lesser players shy away from it and go elsewhere. I had a hard jump serve, I passed decently and set very well, and played good defense. I could absolutely crush the ball when hitting. However, I'm short and can't jump relative to good A players so working around the block of a good player was hard for m. And my hitting lacked accuracy and relied on raw power. My cut shot sucked. |

I played golf for an NCAA div I program. Turned pro right after college, and played full time for 6 years. Last year I got through the Stage 1 of PGA Tour Q-School. If I had made it through Stage 2, i would have been guaranteed at least partial Nationwide status. Unfortunately, I have forgot how to swing a club this year, and as a result i have run out of sponsorship money. I've decided to pursue a career as a golf instructor. Hopefully I can try Q-School again though [/ QUOTE ] This deserves a thread, in my opinion. I'd love to hear about this, e.g. what you shot, what tour you played on, how it worked (what's it called, "rabbiting" or something like that?), etc. |

But ultimately the next step led me to coaching. I always was good with coaches and the players and worked my tail off and that realy helped in landing me a job. I got a job as an assistant on both the men's and woman's team for the same college team I played for the year before. [/ QUOTE ] What exactly do golf coaches do? Do they actually instruct? I imagine it's different for college than high school, but my high school coach was pretty much just the organizer. He could play, and could help JV with some basic issues, but other than that, he wasn't doing much swing instructing. Seemed like a sweet way to earn a few more thousand a year for a high school teacher. |

I played varsity soccer (won a state championship my Junior year) and lacrosse all four years of high school, and both at prep school for a PG year. I am now playing lacrosse at Keene State College in NH as a freshman, and after finding out too late that i could do two sports, I plan on playing soccer next year too.

I was also offered a huge scholarship to go to Wichita St., mostly academic but there was a clause that I must be active on the bowling team. I never took it though. [/ QUOTE ] You would be a much better bowler if you took it. Why didn't you? |

4 years football.
3 years track. 1 year wrestling. For some reason they did not need any 5 foot 9 slow/small fullbacks in college football. Odd. |
