It is my understanding that Jonas ended up with $2000 to Brian lee's $6000. Since Jonas lost the first match and chip counts were even in the second, I think that this resolution was more than fair.

bart i'm gonna have to disagree with you here in a big way.
first of all the fact that brian won the first match means nothing.
disregarding the fact that the only reason he won the first game was he got very very lucky in two big pots, in my first match with michael i lost the first game and came back to win, and in brian's semi-final match vs alan he lost the first game and came back to win, so clearly winning the first match does not guarentee victory.

not only that but brian is a terrible HU player and not to brag but i have to be a huge favorite.
in fact the in the hand just prior to the incident i had brian pretty much finished off until he hit a three outer (A10 vs my AK on a A high flop) to even up the stacks again.

i was dominating him and outplaying him completely and to say that because he luckboxed his way into winning the first match he is entitled to $6000 is complete BS.

there was nothing in the stipulations of the tourney that it had to be completed on the same day, in fact i was the one who said i would rather play the final that day then postpone it so clearly there is no logical reason why the conclusion of the match could not have been postponed to a later date.

faradon the floorman on duty at the time was standing at the table when the incident occured and agreed that it was 100% an accident.

the whole thing is total BS.

Looking at it in a purely objective way - yes, I completely agree. I'm sure given Jonas' description of how he was outplaying him all night long, it probably doesn't seem that fair.

Honestly though Jonas - how rediculous does it sound to have your winnings awarded to you based on how superior your playing abilities were to someone else? If you're the best person in the tournament - why doesn't everyone just hand you over their money right off the bat and save themselves the embarrassment?

Obviously I'm saying that facetously, but I think you get my point. :-) [censored] happens sometimes, but in this case, as in all cases, the objective decision needs to prevail, and it sounds like it did.

Utter [censored] bull$hit! First, everyone who knows Jonas, knows this had to be an accident. He does get hyper and is partly a control freak, but I have never seen him abuse, insult or in anyway do anything that would break the rules. The additional fact that this was a HU tournament should have allowed this to play out. Even at the WSOP or any tournament, players get 20 minute time outs, not DQ'd!

Wrong or right, intentional or unintentional the incident, to unilaterally award the money to Brian (irrespective of abilities, postion, chip stacks or record) was just wrong. I'm sorry. I like Brian, I like Jonas, I have no favorites, just a rational decision from what I know. Let the tourney play out, ban him for X days and move on. This was almost an outright theft!

yes it would sound rediculous if i asked that they award the prize money to me because i was a better player.
however that is not even close to what i said.

what i said was that awarding brian $6000 because he won the first game is rediculous.
not postponing the match is what is really rediculous.

asking brian what he wanted to do is rediculous.
banning me for 40 days is rediculous.

there are a lot of rediculous things in this whole incident but i never once suggested anything other then postponing the tourney.

anyways i'm done with this whole conversation, its obviously a whack ass situation and i've made my statement.
