News report out of National Journal (a political publication following Hill action)
"According to an aide, Frist has decided to push for a truncated version of the House bill that would bar banks and credit card companies from processing payments for online bets and make it a crime for a gambling business to accept credit cards, wire transfers or any other bank instrument to process payments for illegal gaming transactions." This is obviously broader than we had originally hoped and not good news. Still trying to get actual language being floated, but no luck yet. |

[/ QUOTE ] This language may still provide us with hope if it only outlaws transactions linked to bets. A transaction with Neteller does not meet the criteria laid out above and would still be legal for banks to process. It also offers hope that the ISP's would not be asked to block connections to gaming sites. |

Hmm, maybe someone can call this guys office and find out what's going on? [/ QUOTE ] Zero chance - I can't even get info This is stuff that is being discussed by a relative few and is certainly not for public consuption as far as they are concerned, particulary on the details. As far as trying to put a hold on the DoD Authorization conference report, not a real viable option in my view. |

He's (Senate Majority Leader Frist) just using all procedural and legislative opportunties to resolve the situation in a manner that 1) Avoids procedural hurdles, 2) Gets enough policy changes through so he can claim victory, 3) Minimizes the opportunty for opposition to exert its influence.

All the poker sites have to do to get completely around this potential action(even if it outlaws FirePay and Neteller) is to start using Western Union.
