You've played 3-6 LHE for 6 yrs......

Are you serving some sort of penitence for past sins in your life or are you just nakidly masacistic?

Seriously though like so many have pointed out there is no incentive at this point for Harrah's to change anything it be like tinkering with a magical gooses' diet b/c her eggs are only 14k gold not 24k.....

Remember the 50K was added just this yr lets see how that event grows and is regarded in the next few years.

It should be raised purely based on inflation of money and not on the buyin levels. The whole idea for that 50,000 HORSE tournament was to televise an event with only pros playing. The Main event needs to be accessible to the average person, but not to the point where the buyin has weakened with the US Dollar.

Higher price = fewer qualifiers from Internet sites.
Fewer qualifiers from internet sites = fewer donks in the money games.

Remember, it is the promise of possibly playing in the ME that brings many players to the internet in the first place. They then hang around and lose their money on the money tables.

Other than you want it that way and say it should be that way, why? Business decision for Harrah's? better for you? Better for poker? To reduce or expand the field because? I have no problem that you advocate that you want it raised, but why? Purely based on inflation isn't a reason.

I like the idea of raising the buy-in. It would give the players bigger chip stacks to start and keep the field to a managable level.

I don't think there would be any lack of players giving up on qualifying through the internet. They would just have to do more of them super-satellite style.

Online poker aside, it would do the WSOP well. More prestige, more rake and less employees.

Raise it to a billion and have Ross Perot (is he even still alive or rich) square off with Bill Gates.

Seriously, what you have to realize is this. You want a semi open event many people can get into and win to be the world champion of poker? Or do you want 100 pros (and who decides who the best 100 are) just so you can say, there this guy bested the pros. Now we have a "true" champion. Winning this doesn't mean your the best player, but no tournament ever really will do that. Fact is there are many top people who most of us know are some of the best in the game. We don't need one tournament to tell us that, and no one in the know thinks just because Moneymaker or Gold or whoever won a big tournament that they are the best. Why is this not enough for you? Why can't you follow other tourneys, big cash games maybe, etc and find out who is consitently among the top winners. One tournament regardless of the amount of buy-in means little and everyone should know that.

I dont think it should be raised but if they do, im just saying that the suggested raise of 25,000 is a bit much it seals off the tournament from too many potential players (Which some people want)

I am NOT nakedly masochistic, thank you. I just spent a while learning, and also, am not yet rolled well enough to make it to the irreglular 15/30 games that occur in my city... Making my first real run at semi-pro this week... I'll be sure to start a thread about it for all those who want to hear the harrowing stories of my slow climb to the summit of professional poker, from .5/1 online hold 'em
