I was talking high level about his general play and tactics in general - BAsically a read on a player. You should have a read on a guy if you played with him for 10 hours right? [/ QUOTE ] no offense, but i really think you are overestimating the "highness" of the level that you yourself think about poker on, as well as your ability to judge the skill of others after watching them play |

Not value-betting his low straight was one (he wasn't going for a c/r, I don't think, like someone else suggested). [/ QUOTE ] I don't think he was going for a c/r at all. Basically there's no hand Gold can call a c/r with that he beats except a lone T that reads AC as bluffing. C/r'ing the river with the idiot end of a straight on a paired board is not a good idea. However, value betting the straight was close. IIRC, AC check/called the flop and the turn went check/check. AC needs a good hand to call a bet from Gold, and Gold had been bluffing relentlessly on rivers when he sensed weakness. Also, AC will be in a real tough spot if Gold raises his river bet (though maybe I am wrong and he can safely fold ... I don't know if he had a sense of Gold's river bluff raising frequency). The key which probably made the value bet right is that this hand came shortly after AC's A high river call, which was likely to have the effect of discouraging Gold from bluffing there. I'm not sure the TT hand was a mistake, unless he thinks Wassicka is good enough to realize that AC can't really have a made hand there besides Ax Kh after his flop check. (Phil Gordon explained this during the PPV broadcast.) I really don't know WTF Wassicka was thinking with his bluff, even though it happened to work. |

Allen Cunningham is the exact opposite of over-rated. [/ QUOTE ] yes i agree with this. i have a ton of respect for allens game even though i dont know too much about it. however, i have to say that i dont think his call with ace high was that fantastic. it was pretty standard imo actually. |

What a strange thread. how can you have that many posts and not understand how sample size works.

I was railbirding on Full Tilt last night and Allen said he made two mistakes at the FT. Not value-betting his low straight was one (he wasn't going for a c/r, I don't think, like someone else suggested). [/ QUOTE ] He 100% was not going for a c/r on that hand. He (mistakenly) was hoping Gold would bluff, and therefore was attempting to pick that off with a c/c. He was upset with himself, because he realized after Gold checked behind he should've put in the value bet himself. |
