A) Get a story on E! news live that young hollywood starlet is dating an attractive poker superstar.
B) Follow up item, a photo of Antonius and Lindsey Lohan on a beach in Hawaii
C) Help prepare the "Who are you, Patrik Antonius?" piece on the weekend news edition.
D) Have him be seen in all the top places/parties in LA, with at least another young upcoming hollywood star. Next item : "Lohan's former boyfriend is tearing up Hollywood"
E) Get him to guest star in the current "that 70's show" type sitcom and/or a late late late night with someone someoneski.

This can be achieved easily if you are young, rich and attractive. All a matter of will.

I overheard ESPN's director give explicit directions to all these marketable players as to what he thought what would improve their TV image. Here's what he said:

Hellmuth - stop crying
Brunson - stop winning
Matusow - stop whining
Ivey - stop staring
Negreanu - stop talking
Luske - stop singing
Farha - stop smiling
Moneymaker - stop playing
Lederer- stop analyzing
Ferguson- stop wearing black
Chan - stop wearing those ridiculous shirts
Raymer- stop wearing those ridiculous glasses
S Nguyen- stop saying baby all the time
Harrington- stop dozing off between hands
Williams- stop making porno movies
P Magriel- stop wagging your tongue
TJ Cloutier- stop perming your hair
Annie Duke- stop playing footsie under the table
Ted Forrest- stop wearing that members only jacket
M Nguyen- stop spitting beer on the other players
Arieh- stop being a such little bitch
Liebert- stop dying your hair every week.

Not sure it's that easy....but all I'm saying dont' think he'll be a household name because he probably won't go that far to crave attention. based on poker recognition he won't become one...nor does he probably care.

Also have you seen him talk in interviews and his douchey comments to Doyle? The guy's boring...I'm sorry he's not going to be a household name...he's definitely good but he's not going to be in any commercials anytime soon or ever.

Joe Hachem is a nice guy and all..but who outside poker knows him?

[/ QUOTE ]

Anybody who watched the 2005 WSOP broadcast.

[ QUOTE ]
You have to take into consideration "marketable" as in someone who's not really into poker but would still recognize the following players.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, anybody your marketing towards is presumably going to be at least somewhat into poker.

[ QUOTE ]
Phil Laak is not marketable because he hasn't won anything...

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, he has.

[ QUOTE ]
he's just a goddamn clown. He really should not be on the list...

[/ QUOTE ]

He's been on TV a lot. People know who he is, he's a character, he's got a celebrity girlfriend. He's marketable.

[ QUOTE ]
The keys to who would make the list are the ones who were thriving during the peak of the poker boom...the ones who got tv coverage in the 2003 WSOP ME, Season 1 and 2 of the WPT

[/ QUOTE ]

That was the beginning of the poker boom. It's still going. Even if you think it's in decline, the viewers toward whom you'd be marketing a current event would be those currently interested in poker, and likely many who just got into it recently.

Agreed with most of the rest of your post.
