To answer your question under my rooms existing rules I would have the hand tabled. But I would rather rule that since player A did not show when he was supposed to he has forfeited his right to see player B's cards.

[/ QUOTE ]

He absolutly has to table the hand upon request. There was equal action on the river and the hand went to show down.

How could player A possibly forfeit his right to see the hand? He put money in, and retains the right to see the callers hand. The only thing he forfeits is the right to win the pot. Player B should accept the fact he has to show the hand since he is taking the pot.

[/ QUOTE ]

The more I look at this the more I agree with your argument above regarding this situation. As Player B I had the winning hand and really couldn't be embarrassed (although my call was pretty shaky, absent a read). I should have shown down and got on to the next hand, absent my interest in a rule clarification.

I'm not sure where you stand regarding getting rid of IWTSTH in general, especially when directed toward losing hands. I've linked to Tommy Angelo's IWTSTH article elsewhere in this thread, but hope you get a chance to read it and perhaps provide your input (I repeat the link to make it easy).

In the related thread I think it was correct to deny Player B the right to see Player C's hand, given he so clearly created an unequal situation.

Regards,

Rick

Yeah, they are good at showdowns but not so good at signing up into SNGs (although they may have finally fixed it, I've been playing Stars.

I'm not a cardroom staffer of any kind, so my own sense of common sense says:

"Player A had every right to see Player B's hand. All he had to do was show his hand when it was on him to do so, and then Player B would either have shown or could have been IWTSTH-ed by Player A.

However, by mucking his hand when the rules called for him to show his hand, Player A forefitted any right to see Player B's hand. Player B was the only player with a live hand, and won the pot."

To me, once Player A mucks when required to show, it's no different than if it were limit and heads-up and Player B bet and Player A folded. Player B isn't required to show there, he shouldn't be required to show here.

That's just my $.02. I certainly think that some reasoned arguments have been made on either side and I couldn't get too upset if it were ruled either way.

Also, being Player B and knowing I'm getting the pot regardless what what my two cards are (unless the deck is fouled), I don't mind showing.

I would strangle player A and just beat the sh*t out of B. Get over yourself, show your cards, and move on to the next hand.

In skimming the responses earlier I got this response mixed up with one referring to a "kick in the balls". I'd rather go with your option given I was B

Ah, I should have realized you were player B by the way you set up the story. I can see the other guy was annoying but I'd laugh out loud and say, "You've got to be kidding," then just show and move on.

Believe me, that's my usual plan and the plan for the future
