No problem,

I think the first part of your post is very helpful and good natured, and I think it represents the problems that a lot of posters have with her. The last part of your post is basically a repetition of that advice, so it's fine. There're some problems with the two points below.

[ QUOTE ]
where we run into a real problem is when we combine the above attitude with a certain misapprehension of the facts. That is this, and it is important: You assume that being the wife of Ed Miller automatically makes you someone with credibility in the 2+2 community. This is manifestly untrue; his credibility does not extend to yours, and you must earn your own respect as a poster.

[/ QUOTE ]

When has she shown any assumption that her relation to Ed Miller gives her any extra credibility? I haven't seen all of her posts, but unless she somewhere pulled a "I'm Ed Miller's wife, bitch" in an argument, this point holds no water. She's being herself, she may get a free ride because of her hubbie's status, but that's not her fault.

[ QUOTE ]

Do you even play poker? Do you know how to play poker? Not being much of a player is of course no bar to being a welcome, contributing member at 2+2. But as you make no strategy posts, and your non-strategy posts so often consist of berating the board for its Shameful Behavior and Treatment of Something or Somebody, and calling people "pussy-asses" for no apparent reason whatsoever, it would seem to me that you should be wondering not who [censored] thinks he is, but, rather, who you think you are. Why should you be welcome at this forum? Indeed, why do you associate at all with people for whom you seem to have so much contempt and anger?

[/ QUOTE ]

When was the last time you made a strategy post? When was the last time Censored made a strategy post? When was the last time I made a strategy post? If it doesn't matter, why bring it up? She was exiled from OOT for OOT posts. "You don't play poker so you'd better make sure you're real popular in OOT." Come on.

Also, she doesn't have to be concerned with earning anyone's welcome here, and neither should anyone else. That, I think, was the point of her whole mods message. The inmates running the asylum thing has gone a bit too far and some mods are taking themselves to seriously.

She's wondering who Censored thinks he is because he's the one presuming to tell her what she can and can't do on someone else's site. She doesn't have to wonder who she thinks she is, she's just a poster on the site, whether the people who post here like her or not. Again, it's nice advice to help her increase her popularity, but why should she concern herself with her popularity?

[censored] is the king of OOT, invited back by the king of 2+2 despite technically being banned for life. It's obvious how much power [censored] has been given. Even Elaine mentions that people do it for the power and not any other reward; so why is she confused that [censored] is acting like an overlord here?

Like it or not, he is the lord of OOT and his actions are more or less unstoppable.

[ QUOTE ]
What the hell is going on?

I leave for vacation and while I'm gone Censored takes the opportunity to "ban" me from OOT and then make an announcement about it. (It's not a formal ban since the mods can't ban people from one forum and not the rest; it's a request that I don't post in OOT).

OK, well I have an announcement for Censored and the mod crew. You all have your jobs as mods because you agreed to work for free.

News flash: other people were asked to be mods before you ever had the opportunity and we turned the job down because it didn't pay anything. It's a lot of work for no reward except power. And that doesn't appeal to me as much as it obviously appeals to you, you power-hungry [censored].

Take your [censored] ban and shove it up your ass.

[/ QUOTE ]

You seem to have missed something while you were gone. Allow me to explain it to you in terms that only a mentally hilarious person could misunderstand.

Not so. Elaine has on more than one occasion alluded to "knowing the right people" and generally given the impression of someone who holds herself above the rank-and-file, and who instantly expects the right to lecture and be taken seriously. Perhaps she'd speak exactly the same way if she was just Elaine from Wherever, but that is not the impression she leaves. Consider the OP. Who on Earth would seriously consider making Elainemonster, the poster, a forum moderator? If this were to somehow happen (and why?), people would instantly come to the (probably correct) conclusion: Elaine was entrusted with this position because she's Ed's wife. On what other grounds could she possibly make her candidacy?

Also, she doesn't have to be concerned with earning anyone's welcome here, and neither should anyone else. That, I think, was the point of her whole mods message. The inmates running the asylum thing has gone a bit too far and some mods are taking themselves to seriously.

You don't have to earn the right to a welcome. You DO have to earn the right to have your sweeping criticisms listened to and taken seriously, if you don't want to just be blown off as This Angry Broad With A Hair Up Her Ass About Something. This can be done through the strength of an established reputation (negative) or through lucid, well-constructed arguments (highly controversial.)

Phoenix,

"If it doesn't matter, why bring it up?"

See, that's the thing. Many of us believe that making poker posts actually DOES matter around 2+2.

Oh, I do too. But it seems a little weird coming from someone who doesn't make poker posts, and moreso when the person she's having the big feud with also doesn't. You can't hold it against her without holding it against them as well.

Funny how I don't see half this thread because so many of you are now on my ignore list (if you announced that you voted for banning me in Censored's thread you are now on my ignore list).

[/ QUOTE ]

Elaine,

This is too cruel. Please don't ignore those guys and deny them the great self-esteem they feel knowing that you read their posts. Show some mercy.

P.S. You need to establish your poker creds since they have been challenged. Tell these guys you know damn well that a straight beats a flush.
