Seriously- who the [censored] is P.O.S- I'm reasonably well versed in indie hip-hop and either I'm not realizing what that stands for or I've never heard of them.

[/ QUOTE ]
Seen him live a bunch and he's been awesome every time. I hope you enjoy.

Modest Mouse - however I just heard one of their songs on the radio a few weeks ago.

[/ QUOTE ]
Seriously were you anywhere near a radio for 2004/2005? Float On was one of those songs that got played on the radio every 2 hours.

Also I'd like to point out Guster has a new CD out. I think O.A.R. & Guster suffer from thriving in the college demographic. Fans who don't buy cds.

Wow, I'm shocked. Very surprised someone as well-versed in Indie hip-hop isn't intimately familiar with all of the Rhymesayers label, and the fact that the best in hip-hop is coming out their stable.

P.O.S. is also part of Doomtree crew out of Minneapolis. I've mainly just listened to Dessa and Cecil Otter there. And since we're on MN hip hop I always point out Heiruspecs of St. Paul as a favorite.

I'm very familiar with Atmosphere and most of RSE, I'm not familiar with some nobody they signed in the last year.

The predisposition was just in terms of the punk/skate stuff in his bio.

Listening to his myspace...

It seems ok, nowhere near Atmosphere though. The production seems uninspired.

I general beyond Atmosphere and Ali- I haven't liked much of what RSE has put out.

They have the insane ability to sound like 14 different bands on their 14 track cd. I cant tell if this is terrible or not.

[/ QUOTE ]

Having 14 tracks that all sound the same is worse.

I second Lucky Boys Confusion. Immediately thought of them when I saw the topic, good pick surfinillini. Way more talented than a whole bunch of crap punk-rock bands that HAVE made it to the "bigtime".

Mr. Blotto.

not sure if they really want to, though.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just saw them for the first time on Saturday. They were pretty damn good.

[/ QUOTE ]

Did they cover any whole album sides? What did they play for you?

[/ QUOTE ]

They covered Stash by Phish which was awesome because Phish is one of my favorite bands and that is one of my favorite songs. They also covered Fire on the Mountain by the Dead. I don't really know what songs of theirs they played as I had never heard them before, but they definitely sounded good.
